Sofa - welt or top stitch Sign In/Join

So I'm taking the plunge and purchasing a slipcovered Lee sectional for my living room (YAY!). I've put a lot of thought and energy into this purchase and just when I thought I was ready to place the order the gal asked "do you want a welt or top stitch on the sofa"? Well that about threw me for a loop as it was something I didn't put much thought into as I didn't realize it was an option. I had the gal write up the order, but left without committing to it, to give me time to decide.

I'm leaning towards a welt as I like the added definition it adds to the sectional and am unsure how I feel about the top stitch. I'm thinking it may be too casual for my space??? So far, these are my thoughts, but would love to hear yours!

I think welting fits with the traditional lines of your sofa.

Welting, adds an outline to the piece. Top stitch kind of disappears as you move away from close view of the sofa.

Graciepj and Mary Ruth -

For those two reasons, I opted for the welting and placed my order today. I'm beyond thrilled and excited.

I hope the sofa turns out to be just what you want and that you show it off to us once you get it into place in your house.

I had sofa custom made. The front of arms & top back have the welting, the cushions have the stitching.
But I had the front of cushions done in what was called water fall front. That is no seam across the front of the cushion. I do not like the feel of welting on back of my legs. That is the area that wears off fast. Then the welting needs to be replaced.
