So I'm taking the plunge and purchasing a slipcovered Lee sectional for my living room (YAY!). I've put a lot of thought and energy into this purchase and just when I thought I was ready to place the order the gal asked "do you want a welt or top stitch on the sofa"? Well that about threw me for a loop as it was something I didn't put much thought into as I didn't realize it was an option. I had the gal write up the order, but left without committing to it, to give me time to decide.
I'm leaning towards a welt as I like the added definition it adds to the sectional and am unsure how I feel about the top stitch. I'm thinking it may be too casual for my space??? So far, these are my thoughts, but would love to hear yours!
I had sofa custom made. The front of arms & top back have the welting, the cushions have the stitching. But I had the front of cushions done in what was called water fall front. That is no seam across the front of the cushion. I do not like the feel of welting on back of my legs. That is the area that wears off fast. Then the welting needs to be replaced.
