Wow, I didn't think I would get so many great ideas. Thanks a bunch. Here is a picture of my kitchen. To the right of the cabinet is a large breakfast nook with a round out of window. Hopefully soon we will be installing ceramic tile floors, new counters, lighting and some of the cabinet doors need refinishing. I have decided to keep my oak cabinet color. I have stainless steel appliances to install also. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Bobbier,

Hi,
It's a great space with lots of potential. The end base cabinet and small cabinet is an odd presentation.
Have you considered removing both of them? Perhaps a small pantry/broom closet would work better there.
Why are the cabinets removed to re-do flooring? To go under the island? We re-floored the kitchen and went right to the cabinets. Be sure to order a few extra boxes (above the amount needed for waste) of tile to keep for any later patches, etc.
What are the lighting plans? Pendants? Can lights? UCL?
Have fun and please show updates!

Your kitchen is very nice! I agree that the corner cabinets just seem out of sync for some reason.
The pantry/closet idea is a good one, or perhaps a small free standing piece of furniture could work. I would remove it since you are getting other work done.

Actually the lower corner cabinet I love. To the right is my kitchen table and having that cabinet there is great. Plus a tall cabinet would block the sun and view of the windows that are to the right. This picture shows that. I'm just not happy with the cabinet above it. And the reason we have to remove all the cabinets is because, we have to lay the tile under the appliances, which will raise them too high to fit under the counter and cabinet box. There is only laminate under them now, which is not as thick. If we lay tile in front of the appliances, you wouldn't be able to pull them out, over the tile. I have not thought of lighting yet, just want to replace the lights over the island and table. Right now, I'm thinking of large rectangle tile in a gray for the floors and countertops in a gray too,but not matching the floor. I also want to replace cabinet handles and put in a tile backsplash so if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them. Not sure how to do the tile backsplash on the corner cabinet. Pictures are great too. Thanks! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Bobbier,

You have a nice big kitchen Bobbier.Lots of cabinets and space all over.I love those huge drawers, crown on tops of cabnets & corbels under island.Wish I had your kitchen
I can see a new floor & adding a backsplash & new counter tops. That will make a huge difference.I put in new floors & counter tops last year too.Not anything fancy just laminate counter top.Made a huge difference and me happy.I have oak cabinets too.I want to paint them someday. Now just waiting for stove to go out,so I can get another one.
I would not put tile where the lil corner cabinet is.After reading others comments about removing the lil upper cabinet, that's what I'd do too.ANother cheap change out, spray paint that light fixture, instead of buying a new one.But I know you want a new one, with new look.It is really pretty,Ilike it.
We put down laminate wood flooring last year.We didnt remove the cabinets. We did remove the dishwasher and frig.Floored in those areas. The dishwasher has legs that screw in & out, that will fix the height problem, when replacing it back in it's spot. The frig has enough room between top/frig. & bottom of cabinet now(in pic). That shouldnt be a problem either.Tile isnt that thick. We didnt raise our cabinets or take out any. That will make way too much work.

I had my floors replaced too and they didn't remove the cabinets either. They just removed the stove and fridge and replaced the floor. Seems like it would be a lot more expensive to remove all those cabinets. Just an FYI!

Bobbier, GOOD PLAN to remove cabinets and put down flooring. Especially since the sink has to come out anyway for new counter top. This will give you remodeling options in the future AND make replacing your dishwasher easier later on.
Nice BIG space for your kitchen and breakfast eating area.
Sounds like you have a solid plan and will look forward to seeing the photos of the AFTER kitchen!

Now that I see the whole room it seems to work. Your kitchen is very nice and spacious. I can understand you wanting to upgrade the counters and floors later but I think your kitchen is wonderful right now. As far as that end corner, the only thing that is off-putting is the squishy little cabinet on top. Maybe just replacing it with larger open shelving would make it more usable.

When I had my tile put down to replace vinyl they pulled out the appliances but didn't take out the cabinets. The dishwasher and stove have leveling feet that you adjust to make it fit.
