I have a paint question! One one side of the house I've got two bedrooms and a bath in between them. I'm thinking Benjamin Moore Palladian blue for one bedroom, and Benjamin Moore Beach Glass for the other bedroom. Both of those colors are very soft with a lot of black in them to tone them down (which I love), but I would like something brighter and crisper in the bathroom in between. Everything I find that I like seems to clash with the softness of the other two colors. I was thinking of something like Martha Stewart Sunken Pool. Any thoughts or suggestions?? Is it possible to become decorating dependant on a website??? thanks, Margaret

So the MS color seems to have more 'punch' to it with color. What is the 'everything you are trying to match'? Bedding, towels? I think the MS blue has a lot more life in it and not so toned down like you mentioned, not washed out and faded looking. What were you thinking to go with this color? Draw the palette inspiration for both bedrooms and adjoining bath from fabrics (or papers). This can come via window treatments, bedding, a rug, shower curtain, etc.. Often greens are teamed w/ blues. Sometimes purple hues are teamed w/ them. Other times, yellows are paired with them. Still others deeply saturated navy is teamed w/ lighter blues. More currently, the brown family is a compatible partner. In letting the print guide you, you can't go wrong as long as you factor in things like flooring, lighting, built ins etc.. Use the bridging fabric (or paper, or tile...even art) to unify your spaces for a degree of flow.

Sorry, when I referred to 'everything' I was still talking Paint. I'm still finding fabric for one of the bedrooms, but I did find artwork for the bath that will need the punchier color. here is beach glass ![]()

beach glass seems to be one of those colors that can be grey/blue/green depending on what you put with it.

Although I love all your blue selections and can see the obvious tonal differences between the 3 of them, your 2 bedroom blues might appear so close that you attempted to match them but didn't. Obviously, the light exposure and accent colors can make a huge difference, however. If they were my rooms, all other things being equal, I'd probably either use the same shade for both or select 2 entirely different shades and/or complementary or contrasting colors. If I used the same shade for both rooms, I might select one of my accents or other colors for the bathroom, e.g. a taupe or grey or even brown and then pick up the bedrooms' blue in my accents. That way, I could possibly mix and match some or all of the same fabrics for the 3 rooms. As always, it depends upon what you like and there aren't any rules. If it were my home and I was looking for flow, I'd cut down on the multiple blues, even though it happens to be my favorite color. Here's another suggestion - for the two bedrooms, I might go with one of the grey/blues but then select a navy for the other room - depending upon its size and light exposure. So, that's one way to play with contrast. I would again try to unify all with the bathroom inbetween. JMHO, YMMV. Good Luck!

Here is the color I painted my public spaces in my house. Sometimes at night the color looks pale blue, in the day it is pale green (like shallow tropical ocean color which is why I picked it) and then when cloudy out it is almost minty color. I do like the beach glass, reminds me of the color I like and saw many before selecting this one. I have noticed that the marine or medium bright blue does spark this color as well as any medium blue that is not grayed much. I think you can go with bolder accents in the bath, and gray on the walls maybe, or the bold blue. It will be nice to experiment with a few colors in there. Dark mahogany looks good next to my wall color, so perhaps some woodtones (frame on picture, or around mirror) in your bath might be a way to make it different. Definitely agree with Mary Ruth WRT going bold on accessories in your bathroom. Because they're small spaces, bathrooms often give you an opportunity to use more expensive materials. If you're only experimenting with paint, smarge, you can easily paint over the color, if it's not to your liking. Only your opinion matters, BTW. Good Luck!
