I purchased an original piece of art work, a scene from OCNJ, where we vacation with our kids. It was done by a local artist who is only 19. We just love it. I am hanging it in my living room. I am NOT looking for a beachy or nautical theme. I am more French country in style. I need some throw pillows, a throw blanket, and an area rug to tie in the blue color from the painting.
something like this?
You have a great mix of pieces to work with for your room. It's nice to find something that you love for the walls instead of using a place holder. Love the color in the throw that Annie posted.
Would something like this work for your rug style?

A great source for you would be Ballard Designs: http://www.ballarddesigns.com/rugs/all-rugs/
And, their rugs are now on sale.
Love the picture and décor too.I can see why you want to decorate around it.I cant wait to see the finished room.
Being a shore lover, I'm with you. That painting is wonderful and I can just see that color blue as accents in your LR. I can understand why you don't want a nautical scheme but that painting would/could work anywhere. Have fun.
it's the frame in the end that will keep it from beachy...
When I saw that picture, I called right away to purchase it. Both sides of our family visit OCNJ. The last few years we had a wonderful vaca with my inlaws over Columbus day weekend in October for "Indian Summer". We sometimes go in the summer months when my family is there. I got that piece for a steal! Yes, SJF, the framing will have a lot to do with the direction the room will go in. I purchased a few throw pillows and a throw. I have to return the throw because it doesn't work with the colors. Ugh. I am getting hard wood floors installed and once that is done, I will work on the area rug. I found a few at Ballard & Pottery Barn as the others suggested. Thank you all for your input : )
you'e going to have a wonderful room when you're finished...love your story board...beats my plastic bag of samples i carried around in the car for months!
