Re: Curtains or roman shade for basement bedroom.
I found this cool "plaid on-the-diagonal" fabric. Would this make up ok into a roman shade? (Or should I stick to the striped fabric?) I think it would add some "life" into the room instead of the more subdued striped fabric, on the top right.
Next to the diagonal fabric is the reverse side of the pillow sham, and then next to that is the other side of the comforter pattern and sham.
Am I getting too carried away? All of these colors/fabrics are so vibrant and cheery. I can't decide what to do now.

My personal taste is that the diagonal is too large, overtaking the comforter. Colors look good, though.

But if you like it, go for it!

I love the diagonal for the shades but think all of the patterns go together and look fabulous.

I like the diagonal- where did you find it? I am in the process (about 1 years now) of making roman shades for my living room and have a small light blue/white stripe but LOVE the diagonal so much better.

I like the stripe better for the shades, but the diagonal would make a cute accent pillow for the bed, maybe as a 14"x36" rectangle or as a cylinder-shaped bolster.

I agree. Just as smaller accent.

The more I look at it here and home, the more I tend to agree with you Indexlady and Gracie.
It also introduces a light gray color...hmmmm. Would I have to throw some gray around? Smile

Nance, I like the fabric but personally, I wouldn't select another large print for your room. In addition, I still believe the vertical stripe will enhance the room's height.

Is the small print the reverse side of the comforter? I believe the pillow case (assuming it's a pillow case) demonstrates my thinking about another large print. To me, the new fabric, placed like a pillow on the main side of the comforter, competes with the comforter. BTW, when I saw that small print, I immediately thought: there's your stool cover.

WRT grey, that's a color I would suggest using as an accent for your room. In fact, IMHO, it's too bad the grey stripe is the smallest color on the vertical fabric. (Do they have another version of that fabric with the colors reversed?) The slate blue is greyish so I believe that'd work well as an accent color.

I'm not a huge floral person but I would select another fabric - maybe a small or small/medium floral of some sort to get away from the defined lines and geometrics you already have. In addition, because the reverse side fabric appears very basic, I would look for an exact match for that fabric to repeat it in the room.

All, JMHO.

Good Luck!
