My front door has the top portion as glass (divided). I am thinking of getting a blind to cover it but I am having trouble finding pics of this on any website. I would like to get a visual before I do it. If anyone has this in their home or have some links they could send I would appreciate it.

Hi. Posting a pic of your door would be most helpful. Is this the front door? Is there a question of privacy or perhaps UV protection? Have you considered other options like window film, faux stained glass (Gallery Glass kits) or magnetic curtain rods (assuming this is the type of exterior door) w/ sheers?

We had the same problem in our previous home. I could not find a suitable blind and hence I used wall stickers. It lets in light at the same time wards off the outside view. Only thing is you need to be careful while selecting the stickers. Probably go for a darker shade with lots of art.

We have three outside doors with glass tops. The front door glass is a beveled oval, so many years ago I made this curtain for it.

The other doors have just square pieces of glass and these have lace door curtains. I think the appropriate door window covering really depends on the style of your house.

My DD has put a patterned film cover on her log cabin front door.

Personally I would avoid anything like a blind which would swing when the door is being opened and closed. You (or a carpenter) could make a rigid wooden frame to which you could attach any kind of covering (fabric or paper or bamboo etc.) You could also attach your "curtain" with velcro.

So much depends on the style of your home and your decorating style. We also successfully used a "stained" glass film on a window that has shutters and that also is a possibility for your window. (except for the shutters!)

What type of blind are you thinking about? There are many - roller, venetian, cellular, wood, Roman, are a few that come to mind. Door blinds won't move when the door is opened if they are installed properly with a bracket on the bottom which holds them securely in place. I don't have a pic but have had them in one house and also in our RV.

Here's a website that talks about "hold down brackets" that keep blinds on doors in place but it doesn't show a pic of the bottom of the blind.
