Would a gray sofa and brown leather chairs go together in a room that is painted a pale yellow? I am redoing my family romm but haven't bought any furniture yet. I was just trying to find a neutral other that beige for the sofa's and we really want two leather sofa's flanking the fireplace. Any suggestions are welcome.

I strongly advise that you establish your room scheme via an inspirational print in colors you like. This could come via an area rug, window treatment, an occasional chair, art, etc.. Keeping the sofa neutral is a good idea for greater scheme flexibility down the line. Pull colors for your furniture, windows and walls from this source of inspiration. Factor in room size, contrast to furnishings, lighting and the feel you seek when considering a wall color. The hue value of the color you're considering for the walls can vary from the inspirational print as long as you are in the same family of color found in the print. View all chips under the varied lighting conditions of your space. The print can also give clues re. accent colors and additional chairs. Keep in mind that neutrals consist of whites, beiges, taupes, grays, browns, golds, camels, greens along w/ black and white. Find the print first and it will serve to guide you in the entire space.
Do project onto adjoining public spaces when establishing a room scheme. Tho not all colors need be carried over to other spaces nor a predominate color needs to be maintained, the continuity of scheme to a degree will unite the spaces.

Here is a photo off of the internet of gray sofas and brown leather chairs. I like the gray and brown together really well.
I am not sure about the light yellow walls going so well though.
It is really hard to coordinate a room around an existing wall color. It works out better to work up your color scheme first and then choose a paint color for the walls. Paint is so easy to change, and it comes in absolutely any color, and so it should be the last part of the room to be considered. (You can always match paint to fabric, but you can rarely match fabric to paint)This message has been edited. Last edited by: cocok,
I just posted in another thread about brown leather with gray walls... I think there were pics with yellow in it. I love gray and yellow together, and brown leather is really a neutral. I think it could look nice. Tie it together with pillows, etc.
