From MMF's thread, you wanted to know how my new egg poachers worked.

Tried these today (posted on MMF's this last week (Dec 31st post) and finally had time to use them.
http://boards.hgtv.com/eve/for...4079532/m/6773932667

I put approx 3" of water in a sauce pan (one that you have the lid for).

Sprayed Olive oil inside each pouch (have 2)

Then put the pouches into the water (water right out of tap, in Florida, the water is not cold, so allow for this when you get 55 degree or lower from your cold water tap)
The cups floated in the water, didn't touch the bottom of the pan.

I waited to see soft boiling, for me that was 9 minutes. I had my electric stove on 6 for a medium heat for a soft boil.

Then placed cover on the pot and put timer on 4 minutes.

I checked the firmness of the white with a fork, DONE! So, I (with tongs) took out one pouch and the egg slid out into the plate, the other one needed a little coaching.

The center of the egg was as a soft boil egg, next time I will cook a bit less for a runny yolk.

Total cooking time for me was 13 minutes from turning on stove to finish.

Clean up a snap! So much less work than my egg poacher tray I had to clean up afterwards and always got water in when taking it out of the pan.

MR, I'm jumping in here because I bought these for my DIL and she had trouble mainly because instructions on her brand didn't say to cover with a lid (tho I suggested that afterwards). Anyway, you can buy special tongs to remove the silicone pods when eggs are done. The microwave method posted previously seems to work quicker tho you can only do one at a time and experimentaion re. timing varies from micro to micro. My BIL's son used a metal insert to poach four eggs at a time stovetop and they worked well after spraying the recesses w/ cooking spray. They were done in less time then the pods too.

Thanks Froo, I wanted to let grapefruit and momaspoon how they worked since they asked me how they work out. I just got them and had no idea if I would like them.

I am glad I bought them because for me, they are much easier to use than the traditional tray, and no white leeks out into the pan, so no pan to wash!

Thanks for your comments!

I bought mine at a local shop that sells kitchen supplies, but I found them on Amazon to provide the link.

Oh, thank you so much for the feedback!!! I am going to look for some.

I used to have a pan with a special insert, but the finish wore off. I love poached eggs and have not made them in years!

I really appreciate your time to post back!!!

Sounds great but too many mornings I'm in too much of a hurry to wait 13 min. for an egg-usually have a tee time I'm rushing to. Maybe try it on a morning off

To me they are similar, but with a hard boiled egg I find I over cook them. With a poached egg you can watch it to cook at the exact way you like, with runny yolk or not. I am not a fan of fried eggs and I used to make eggs Benedict so I learned to love the poached eggs that way.

With a poached egg, you can also add flavorings to the raw egg, so you can flavor it how ever you want it, even scramble it with a fork before cooking without frying.
