OK, ladies , I need your help. Have moved into beautiful old farm homeand the queen boxspring will not go throught door to upstairs. Have been sleeping on mattress on the floor.

Someone told me to saw the boxspring into at the top and bottom so it can be slightly folded. What do you think?

Your picture is not showing up.
My daughter bought a "split" box spring for her queen bed. I doubt you would ever get one back together if you sawed it in half.

Good luck and let us know. And I'd like to see some pictures.

I don't know about cutting your box spring. How would you restore the strength of the frame after you got it up there?

I had a friend with a similar problem. She bought an old colonial and couldn't get the bedroom furniture up the stairs. They removed the bedroom window and lifted the furniture through the window to the bedroom.

Can you call the PO to find out how they dealt with the problem? Or you might want to post your question on the forums at the old house web. I suspect that some of the homeowners there have dealt with your problem Here's the link: http://www.oldhouseweb.com/forums/

Good luck!

Since your picture isn't showing up, is problem at the bottom of the stairs or the top going into the room? Once we had a large sofa that we couldn't get down into a basement because of an odd angle at the bottom of the steps and the size of the couch. It was a newer house with carpeted steps so my dad and I pulled the carpet back from the bottom step and removed the actual tread and riser. We then were able to ease the couch in, nail the step back together, and re-stretch the carpet. You couldn't ever tell what we had done.
