My front porch is screaming for a porch swing! I am looking at the recycled plastic. I need white/ 5 foot. I am not finding many choices. Any help out there? I did find 1 that I liked, but some of the reviews are not favorable for comfort (back was too straight).
If not recycled plastic, what would you suggest? What type of wood/paint combo?

I had a very hard time finding a porch swing when I was looking for mine years ago, so I feel for you. I eventually found mine at a large garden/nursery store. It is stained wood, which is now weathered, which I like. When you hang the swing be sure to attach it to a sturdy beam, and use hardware that will hold the weight safely.

If my dear father n law still lived in Indiana, I'd send you to him. He made wonderful Adirondack furniture that was beautiful, durable andddddd comfortable. Yes, try some garden stores; lots of them have locally hand made outdoor furniture...or look in phone book.

what about an online store like Hayneedle? They ship for free.

Do you only want a hanging swing or would one on a base work as well? That would broaden your search.

I have seen them at our favorite discount store here but that is strictly a Maine store.

we got ours at Tractor Supply a couple years ago. Booooy I love it.

have you seen the ones that are basically a bed hanging from chains at each corner? Not for sitting obviously but lying and reading maybe.

Thanks, everyone! I have looked at the garden supply stores. Everyone is out. Most of them only carry the 4 foot size. I was hoping to get one that didn't weather - that's why I was looking for the recycled plastic. As for the hanging -- When we built our house ~13 years ago, the builder specifically put in an extra beam above the porch, so that we could eventually hang a swing safely.

i hate to break it to ya - but everything outside "weathers" ~ just to varying degrees depending on the amount it's exposed to. I'm amazed at how filthy the furniture, etc gets on my enclosed, screened in back porch!
