Are they kidding? Yes, I had my old hoses(12 years old)and I had been meaning to pickup some stainless steel hoses, but jeez, was this I question I neglected to ask? Of course, the delivery guy offered to sell me new rubber hoses for $10. No thank you, I will use my garden hose first. BTW, it was a Whirlpool Duet. Shopping can be so exhausting...

...and a disposal doesn't come with a plug. I've learned to ask at the store when I buy an appliance if there are any installation supplies that I might need. Roll Eyes

I know what you mean, RBS. We bought a new washer/dryer last year and encountered that. Fortunately, the salesperson told us they were extra, which is good or otherwise we would have gotten home without them. And washing machine hoses didn't come with the purchase of the house. lol Somehow it doesn't seem like hoses should be optional, does it?

And dryers never come with a plug -- you have to buy that extra -- AFTER you spend mega $ on the machine -- go figure!

I agree it's a rip off but last week when one of my washer hoses blew, I posted on a DIY site because I couldn't get the hose off the faucet.
One of the things I was asked about and warned about was if the hoses were the ones that "came with the washer". If so, everyone needs to replace them immediately because they are known to be "cr**". So now after this post, I'm wondering if the reason washers don't come with hoses is because it removes all liability from the OEM for damage from busted hoses. Still think it's a ripoff, but get yourself some good stainless ones and don't forget to use the shutoffs!

I don't recall any retailer ever including the hoses with the appliances. When we bought our last set, we bought the hoses at the same time and everything was delivered together.

Washers don’t come with hoses, I found that out too. I got the stainless/flex ones last time I bought a washer.
Also, Kitchen sinks don’t come with the drain thingys, you have to buy those separate and they are like $30 and up. Found that out when we put in a new kitchen sink last year.
