A decorator bought a house several streets over to re-do and flip. I saw it on the internet but about a week ago went to the open house to look at it in person. It was very nicely done.....all in golds, browns, red and a little black on countertops. I have thought about that house for the past week.

Although the house was very nicely done, I keep thinking of that color scheme and the overpowering gold. I think I am just SICK of this color scheme. Its everywhere one looks.
I yearn to see something NEW and different.

Does anyone else share this perspective?

Love,
Lu

Well - that pretty much describes my home to a T. Smile

I have always had red in my home - and I think others have too. So I don't ever see that color going away. I feel comforted by golds and browns. I think you will see the Tuscan theme start to fade, but maybe not the colors.

What colors do you wanna see Ms Lu? Big Grin

I have earthtones throughout my home and have had for ages.. So the colors sound wonderful to me.

Describes my home too.. I didn't follow any trend just colors I liked. I have always loved warm earthy colors, & even jewel tones. Never been one for whites, brights, or pastels.

i think gold is THE color right now and sometimes it can be too much. we have a new home and i picked my four favorite colors, all jeweled tones and went with that. love it. i have red drapes, an eggplant floral chair, lime green and gold accents. sounds crazy, but it's perfect in this space. Hey, we could be back with the wedgewood blue and mauves, or the peach and green. oops, now i'm dating myself...

LOL...I tend to fall behind...I just redid my mantle with gold candles, gold, red plate. My sofa is navy, green, red and gold. I never thought about using the gold and red as accents until I redid the mantle. I just made a shade for my bathroom in gold and red stripe. Oh well...I will have it for some time now. Never have been a trend setter... Roll Eyes

the only colors that are like fingernails scraping down a blackboard to my eyes and imagination are the blue/mauve combo.....

save us if that ever comes back (it will!)

We'll always have "touches" of red throughout our house. I love our master bedroom colors together - dark cherry woods, with icy blue bedding (still working on curtains) and some red glass accents. Neutral walls.

Martha--your reply made me laugh out loud. But agree with you..

Also peach and seafoam green....I can hear the fingernails now...

I like red and think red will always be timeless however it's used.

I was thinking the same thing - blue, mauve, seafoam green and peach - yuk! And I still have plenty of it left over in my house, although it's slowly going away....

I'm tired of a "certain" look, as well, though I can't describe it. I just know it when I see it. On RMS, it seems every kitchen redo is the same overall. I tried looking at them the other day, and it was totally boring to see essentially the same thing over and over and over....

I don't know what I'm ready for, but I'm ready for it!

We've always done what we want -- it may not be "trendy" but then I guess our house is always "out of style"!!!! LOL!!!

LOL I agree! Big Grin There are so many homes one sees on the home decor sites, many of which are really lovely in their sameness, but they are all same ol', same ol'. Can you say "ubiquitous"? I want to say (and have) to find something old and interesting to use as accessories. There is no way anyone can have interesting decor by doing everything the same as everyone else. The best rooms and homes by really well-known professional designers/decorators are the ones which are different, they don't look like everyone else's.

About the gold color trend, it's not my color for walls altho I tried to like it in my den for a year. Finally got DH to repaint it. Now in jewellery, I love it!

Uh oh! I just did my kitchen in a "Tuscan" theme! lol! I really like it though and I feel it really warms up my black granite and dark cherry cabinets. It just feels nice!
