I've posted a couple times about my re-doing my basement. I have a small basic basement window. It is about 33 inches wide and about 21 inches high. My style of decorating is modern/comtemporary, so cutains just woudn't work for me.

I was wondering, how expensive would it be to have custom blinds or shades done?

Any other suggestions? I'm not all that handy nor is DH, so making something isn't do-able.

I bought some solar shades from Smith+Noble which were price-y but average compared to other quotes i got. The site has a graph to give you idea on the price of whatever you are looking at.

Josie, there is such a wide range of custom blinds and shades that it would be best if you would contact a store which does these and see what your options are. Just because something is custom does not mean that it will be exorbitantly priced. Your window is not very large so I would expect you could have a custom blind made to fit for $100 minimum and as high as you want to go.

If you are on a budget you could have a standard shade/blind of various styles cut to fit at a store which carries these for even less. This would be a wood or bamboo type blind. Could look very nice and be just what you want.
