I have another post out there titled "Master Bedroom Help". I was worried people might not read everything and I'm really looking for a good quality comforter set. I've been everywhere Macy's, Dillards, Bed Bath and Beyond, but nothing with the look I want. I found this at the Walmart website http://www.walmart.com/ip/Main...tems#Product+Reviews I love everything about this comforter, but I can tell the quality is going to be lacking. Any suggestions on a brick and motar store or online website? I hate comforters that fall apart after one washing. Thanks!

The biggest issue I have with store bought comforters is how manufacturers are so skimpy with the dimensions. It's difficult to find anything with the proper yardage to cover the "drop" on at least three sides of the bed. Having a pillow top mattress makes the problem even worse.

Because of this issue, I've had to have our bedding custom made for years.

I think it is hard to find nice comforters ready made. Find yourself a nice feather duvet in the size you need. If you watch for sales you can find a great bargain. Then make a duvet cover yourself. That way you will have the fabric and quality you want, at the best price.

I buy a new set every year.I do wash them often and when I see a little wear.I put that set in the spare bedrooms and give to my 2 DD's.I am addicted to bed sets.I cant stop looking at them everywhere I go.LOL.It is time for a new bed set now.I'll just look on that link you posted.
I have worked at higher end Pennys,Belks to Annas Linens.Some do hold up better than others.This is going to depend on how long you will be using this.I believe they really only last,using every day for 1-2years.So picking one that is dry cleanable is sturdier.The fabric makes a difference in how long it lasts.

Our last 2 comforter sets lasted over 10 yrs each and the only reason I changed them out was because I was tired of them and looking for a change. I've usuallly spent at least $175- $200 on each, which I don't think that is pricey , certainly to custom ones.

You didn't mention where you got your comforter at that lasted 10 years.

Macy's was the one that went for 10 yrs; the one on the bed now has been there for 6 yrs and that is a Cindy Crawford from Penny's. Both were slightly under $200.00. I often find when I'm actively/ desperately searching for something I don't find it. I will not settle and it usually comes to me when I least expect it.

I have to agree that you definately will be lacking in quality with that Wal Mart comforter.

Kohls has nice bedding,JCPenney. TJMaxx and Marhalls, Home Goods have quality bedding too but it's a hit and miss with their stock. You never know what you are going to find.

My best friend has bought several sets at and all were really high quality!
So I purchased my daughters set and it is really great quality I think it was Lux hotel? and shipping is next to nothing. So many options to chose from as well.

If you really, really like it, I would suggest you go ahead and buy it. Go up a size (unless you have a king bed) to make sure it is big enough. Have you seen it in the store? If you order from the website, you can always return it to the store. I like the fact that the comforter is cotton. When you launder, use cold water.

You can't beat the price! And just because it is from Walmart and cheap, does not mean that it won't wear well.

You could change the look by going with a lighter colored bedskirt and a couple of cream colored throw pillow - perhaps something with a bit of texture.

I have a "cheap" bed-in-a-bag set from Penney's that I found at a liquidator store and it has worn extremely well. I probably would never have purchased it if it hadn't been cheap! It has worn extremely well. I don't use the bedskirt - have a sleigh bed - and added a nice pillow to it.

I love Rose Tree brand. They are expensive and usually dry clean and the wonderul fabrics they use wear like iron. My last one lasted about 12 years and would still be using if new pup hadn't chewed a corner. I bought mine at Dillards.
