Well, after moving in & out , our walls have seen some pings n dings..They are now getting on my nerves. So its gonna be time to repaint. I wanna start in our spare bath & living room .. The weird part is, i still like the colors they are painted. The bath is Burnt Caramel by Valspar and my living room is SW RESTRAINED GOLD.. I like fall like colors, and these colors still look current, and match my decor (which i haven't tired from). My rooms have been these colors for about 4-5 years.. I still get tons of compliments on how it all works together
My question is , how many of you repaint a different color just because you need to repaint? If you still love your colors, would you repaint the same color..
I feel no matter how i go, it will still be really close. I guess i just lean a certain way with color choices. Usually, it excites me to pick something new, but its weirding me out because i am actually still comfortable with the colors from 4 yrs ago. lol
Boo, if you LOVE you paint colors that much, and have not tired of them. I would then repaint in the same colors. Just think how simple that will be, not having to pick out new paint colors. That is always such a chore for me.

I have painted the same color when the walls got dinged. AND I have changed color because I needed to paint. If you love your colors, you can do only the walls that are dinged (corner to corner) if that is the only areas to be repainted. It will give the place a FRESH look.

Choosing a new color can take a lot of work and planning, and can create a huge change. If you love your color there is no reason not to stick with it.
I'm with Nitalyn, I love my colors and will stick with what I have on the walls. It's dramatic, neutral and classic timeless INMHO as far as pallets go.

While the paint on our walls does not need to be refreshed any time soon, I would love to continue experimenting with fun, bold colors in the future.
It might be a bit hard to get adjusted to because we're so used to the orange tone colors we have now, but might be tempting.
I agree with Lilsophie and some of the other posters though, if you love what you have, just re-paint the walls to bring the shine back, no reason to change unless you really feel you absolutely want to.

If you're not tired of the current wall color, then just repaint with the same color, there's nothing wrong with that. I painted our LR 10 yrs ago and it's way overdue to be repainted. It's time for a change for us so I'm going to choose a different color. A new coat of the same color of paint for your walls will make them look refreshed.
I hear ya. I'll paint a room and then two years later I want to change it, but the problem is, tying it into the other rooms without having to them paint too
Just as an example, when I moved into my house, most of it was "builder white." I painted my dining room red because I've always wanted a red dining room. Living room next to it is tan. I was stumped as to what colors to the paint the kitchen/family rooms and the hallway. I didn't want the entire house to be "boring beige."
Then I go and hear that all rooms the same color make the house "flow." What gives??? So now kitchen is hot chocolate and the family room is shaker beige.
Now I don't like the red any more. It's just way too confusing!
Thank you all for your responses. It's great to hear from others. I still like the color, its just all the dings and scratches that are bugging me. Me ceiling has also got a few cracks. And of course the trim always takes a beating by furniture and so on.. I think I will go ahead and repaint the same colors ( maybe change the trim a a little) I am contemplating BLACK trim ...
I have always liked it, and i have black cabinets, so i will keep kicking that around.. My only concern is my windows are white, and I think the black may be too harsh for the white vinyl windows. Just an idea.
I like all my furniture which goes very well with my current color, but I am shopping for a new sofa, as mine is not so comfortable to sit on anymore lol.
Having large dogs in the house we are always touching up dings and scratches on a regular basis. We've only been here 10 years but I don't see us changing the colors we've picked out any time soon.

For me a lot of time, effort and mental energy goes into picking a paint color. Once I find one that works I have no problem sticking with it. I have ventured out and painted the bathrooms a totally different color and I've liked them for a time but seem to go back to my comfort zone. Since most of my walls are painted in a warm caramel like color all of my accessories gel with that color. If I switched to the new color greige...things would be off in my mind.

Timely topic for me. We painted our greatroom about 10 yrs. ago with RLauren Donegal. We just redid the flooring and it matches the wall color perfectly. Repainting was an option when the carpet was removed. It would have been very easy not worrying about drips, etc. Thing is, we both still love the color. Its still very current and it 'goes' with all of our furniture and decor. We have touched it up over the years and will continue with touch ups as long as we still love it. There was no good reason to repaint for the sake of repainting. Also, the older I get, the lazier I get, lol. I used to paint all the time years ago. When our kids were growing up there were always walls that needed repainting and I did it often. The only room I'd really like to tackle now is our guestroom. I don't see that happening for awhile, lol.Out of sight, out of mind. This message has been edited. Last edited by: janetaz,
