Ok helpers...Here is a picture of my mantel after I tweaked and re tweaked. I am in the process of making a small topiary with what I have here and if I don't like it I will pick some up on Friday when I shop. So if anyone know where I might find some nice ones, let me know.

Also Comments on this mantel now? Too much, not right, what to do next??

Thanks

Thanks Jackie. I appreciate your looking and commenting. We don't have Ross' here near me. Maybe in Lexington or Louisville though.

I like it but feel like it could use soemthing more substantial. Maybe a chunky topiary or vase on one side and a larger stack of books on the other???

All that matters though is that you are happy with it! Wink

Some of the readers digest hardcovers are really pretty. I got several at a thrift store for 50 cents each. Many different colors and prints.

I found a beautiful set of leather books at a thrift store. I use them for vignettes.

Doesn't this mantle have several elements similar to your's? Pretty.

I bought a few of these myself (for the condensed stories) for my guests to read when visiting.
I added a stain to the binding of my books and it took the 'newness' off them.
I will post how they came out when I find them!

lilsophie,

I have a small condo. I posted these pics long, long ago. Have painted a couple times since, changed accessories and added beadboard in a few areas. I should get some pics of my fireplace.

Oh Annie, indeed it does look almost like mine. Wow. I have the same tiles only mine are in shades of browns and creams. My mantel has more detailing but all in all a good replica. Love the way this one looks. Will definitely keep this in my files and I have a big mirror I use at times up there also. Wow, thanks.

Lil Sophie. Yes, Annie gave me great inspiration.

MR, would love to see your books when finished.

Annie love your condo, kitty cute too.! Smile
