I sure do miss some of our MIA's. 2 that immediately come to mind are Paintlady, Jim and his inspiration pictures, the woman in Texas who lost her husband and has the funny new boyfriend, Barbara the decorator in NC with a retired Marine husband and others that I will think of as soon as I post this.

Has anyone heard from these people?

I think Paintlady has stopped in on occasion. The lady in NC is Barb and she has a blog(everyday home) that fills you in on all her doings.
There's so many other places on the web in recent years where you can find design ideas, decorating tips. Sometimes people just have to choose where they spend their free moments. And others just lurk without comment.

Miss them too. Tammy Loves Roses is another one that comes to mind. I am sure there are others I can't think of the names.

Jackieremette, every time I see your avatar, wish I had kept my old figure skates!

I have heard from Jim and BDM and both are so busy I am sure once their lives calm down they will come to share.

Jim just posted on a thread for Christmas decor, he has a few Pinterest boards I follow and I think he posted on GW too. BDM had such problems when the board was 'repaired' (ya, right, ruined...) and she lost the ability to see photos or post them. So, I hope she comes back to figure out how to fix that or start new. She is a talented and very busy lady and she did also post on GW.

Judithva, for anyone that remembers her gorgeous photos of tablescapes (a dear friend of mine IRL) she has been busy remodeling 1/2 her house! She used to post on GW too.

Also with new technology of reading the posts on IPads and new phones, some do not have desk top computers anymore, makes it harder to figure out all the Apps necessary for transferring and posting photos.

Our MIA's I think are still checking in here once in a while! AND NOT forgotten!

How come the smilies don't work? And I can't use the paint colors either. Wish they would get this stuff fixed, it's frustrating. : (

Happy 2013! I really do miss the real decorating projects that we use to collaborate on daily once upon a time.

I don't often visit this board for several reasons.

1. I'm not doing any real decorating projects in my home. I paint pieces of furniture occassionally. Mainly for my granddaughter's playroom and her mom and dad's home. I do occassional small craft projects inspired by Pinterest.

2. I love Pinterest.

3. I love to cook, so that is where much of my attention is these days as well as babysitting my grandddaughter 3 days a week. I also help my elderly mother a lot.

4. My spare internet time is usually spent on Facebook. I like having the anonymity removed. I gave up blogging as well.

5. I do not like that there is no moderation of this board whatsoever. I find that having no moderation allowed this board to stray too far off topic in certain instances. Things got ugly, too personal, and very hurtful to Real personas at times. So my interest just faded over time. I do often think of the many wonderful people here who still post and some who no longer post. I suppose change is inevitable in everything.

So that's it for me. I will still stop by from time to time and post on things of interest.

I wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year.

Paintlady,
I had to go look up an old post with your outdoor Christmas decorations in order to get my holiday spirit fix. Decided I'd better download the pictures before the old posts expired. Thanks again for all the wonderful inspiration you shared for years.

I miss a lot of the MIA posters too. I know everyone gets busy but it's active participation that keeps this board going.

It's almost like a snowball effect. Some folks stop posting, the board slows, others get bored/tired of the slow movement so they stop posting and pretty soon the board is so slow nobody is here Frown

I know I've been tempted to throw in the towel since even MMF is pretty slow nowadays.

I always appreciate Froo who always goes out of her way to keep the board moving Smile. It's nice that even those that are super busy stop by when they can.

Good to see you Paintlady. I too, missed your Christmas pictures this year. Good to see you stopping in!!

I'm on here mostly when I'm at work and bored.

I have a bunch of things I want to post like, which lamps look better in my guest room? Help me fix my mantle, which paint color should I use in the hallway, etc.

As soon as I can get some pics uploaded (such a PITA) at home, I'll give you something to do Smile

I also have been gone for awhile, but I do stop by and checkin occasionally. I hadn't done any major decorating....till now. We are retiring, and selling the house,so we are doing some updating.
I will try and start a post with some of the changes and would love some input on paint colors for the new place Smile
I do miss all you talented folks!

My participation on the boards has dropped off since DH's accident in March. I am so happy to say that his recovery is amazing. A Mir a cle, really. I peek in almost every day, but I don't comment often. I am unable to post pics and I hesitate to begin a new thread, because in the back of my mind, I wonder if I will have the time to follow up on posts. I still enjoy seeing what you are all up to and browsing through the links posted.

I am still here, in lurked mode.

Warmest wishes for a happy and healthy new year to you all!

For me, I can't seem to get past the snobbery and insults given to posters on this board and for what? nothing, just because they can. Does it make them feel better to insult others? in some sick way, yes. Puts them on a different level, so they think.

Then, there are people being accused of being crazy because they simply ask a question or question a "designer".

I also don't understand why some people can't just let things be. People saying that they don't like it when posters post links, pics from other sites, etc and then adding a statement like " "I don't mind reading information like Mary Ruth, Charles, Cocok and others share because I respect their knowledge as designers" This was just the latest statement by one of the "designers" who is occasionally on this board and often adds some type of insult in there. My question is, why do you have to say anything at all? why not keep responses like that to yourself?. Take it to a pm and share those feelings with others of your "kind" or that you "respect".

I also get sick of posting pics too and getting 5 or 6 responses, but yet seeing 1000's of hits and a hundred responses to those which are controversial. If some of you don't care what anyone thinks or if you post pics or questions and don't expect to get some responses then you are not human, IMO, because that is part of human nature.

I originally came to this board to share and give and receive input. I loved seeing the everyday projects from start to finish that so many past posters shared. I spent a lot of time here at first. I always shared and made sure that every post with a 0 reply had some type of response. This took time and dedication, for which I was not getting paid, none of us are. Then, one day, I disagreed with having some pseudo award ceremony given by another poster. To me, it wasn't the place for it. I had people turn on me like I was beaIing their child. That was the start of the decline for me on this board.

I occasionally try coming back but then see the nitpicking, ignorance and insults given out by some of the posters. Usually by posters who do NO sharing or very little. Many who never show their home but yet are quick to judge others. These posters just seem to show up to toot their own horn (some even say their homes were in magazines or commercial shoots were held there but yet we never see a pic of) Then, they go on to insult the posters who do give of their time and share. I don't really care what people share, the thing is, to keep a board going, you just need to share something. You need to respond, post links, pics, questions, responses or whatever.

For me, I prefer to share with those who truly want to share, appreciate it and those who aren't in the background picking everything apart. I choose to be around kind people who actually care about the effect they have on others and care whether they hurt another poster or not. People who do not boast and think they are better than others. Really, we all put our pants on one leg at a time. We can lose our homes, jobs, etc. in a blink of an eye. Then what do you have? if you arn't working on communicating with people and being nice then you are in trouble.

I can't tell you how many times I do something and want to share it with some of you but do not feel like being picked apart by some others. I actually do care, I am sensitive and that isn't always a bad thing. Give me a sensitive friend any day ahead of a cold "I don't care" type of friend. I'd rather have someone who would give me their shoulder to cry on then someone who would just tell me to get over it and on with my life.

No wonder this place has gone downhill. I wish some people could just go away and maybe a lot of posters feel the same way about me too. Thing is, if I'm feeling negative and wanting to tell someone off, I do go away. I do have that ability and choice.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

Oh My Goodness.... As one that isn't here frequently, I'm surprised that ya'll are saying there's no monitoring. (Especially since I replied to Rita's thread about her granddaughter's adorable table and something I said triggered a "code word" and it disappeared.)

I noticed some titles (like Happy Birthday) and remembered we could never have done that a few years ago.

Strings mentioned Tammy Loves Roses and her name brought back wonderful memories.

How 'bout Gail (Brittany Dog Mom)? Does she still post here.

I still receive email notifications when Rita (Paint Lady) post... Which is what brought me here this afternoon.

CatieCupCake can tell you that we posted on another board that became totally cliquey and personal that fights began and the board disbanded.

I never thought that could happen here. I've learned so much from the participants here and as I look around my home, I think of them fondly.

Janice

If people wanted to be here they would be.

I wish people would quit starting threads like this as they are off-topic and the mods no longer care what goes on. I'm never sure of the motivation behind starting a thread like this but it invariably brings hurt feelings to someone. It also make me feel that those of us who stick around are not valued as much as the much more "wonderful" people who didn't. Non of us gets to choose who can be on this forum. If you need that start one of your own. So I'm just filing this (won't say where!) and ignoring.

People need to grow up, this isn't grade school where your best friend moved and you no longer had them to lean on, nor is it middle school where we all needed to feel so important. It's REAL LIFE people, let's just deal with it as something that happens and we can't do much about it! If you need to cry just PM your best buddy and you can have a pity party about it in private.
