I USed to take my jewelry chest EVerywhere I went. Now I try to take just a few things to go with coordinated outfits. I'm just putting things into a baggie and all that into a zip bag and then it goes into my tote that never leaves my side.

How do you travel with tiny earrings, long tangle necklaces, etc.?

I place each item separately into an organza bag which come in various sizes, then all into a larger organza bag. I can see thru the little bags so it's easy to find the correct item to choose to wear.

Depending on how I am traveling (by vehicle or plane) I either keep my jewelry in my suitcase, purse, or hand luggage.

I try not to pack too many pieces of jewelry because I wind up using the same one or two items the whole time I am away. I do have an increasingly ratty quilted and zippered case that I love because it is not large. It stays with me in my purse, not in check-in or carry-on luggage.

But, I gotta tell you, I am tempted to buy some of those terrific organizers by Joyce Mangano I see on HSN.

I saw a hint for helping with long chains not getting tangled, two ways, one was a straw cut in half the long way and a necklace chain put in.

Another way was to drop one side of the chain into a straw, when it comes out the other end, then attach to the other side of the chain to prevent knotting and tangling.

I wear what I will wear on my trip, rings and earrings necklace on and wear on my trip. If I take a pair of earrings, then they go in a small container (a vintage pill box) and go in my purse.

aychihuahua,
I have to check those out! I do not go on TV anymore and never watch HSN. I went online to check out Joy Mangano
Is this what you mean?

Yep, MR, those are the ones. I think they are well-designed and stylish. Can't beat the price, either.

I agree, I have a few small zippered containers with soft sides but find it hard to get in to get the parts, I just dump it all out then weed through. LOL

The fabric choices are modern too and classy.
Thanks for mentioning them. my old stuff looks ratty to me especially after seeing these! I love how organized they are!

I am a self professed "Queen of Bling" (costume jewelry mostly) and yet when I travel (which btw, is generally to family), I take maybe ONE necklace that goes w/ everything. That's quite a statement since I even make jewelry for a non profit I volunteer for. I just don't think so much about jewelry when in the company of family doing basically non dressy stuff. Trust me, it's far from my norm when I am at home. I LOVE to accessorize outfits. I tend to lean more toward scarves than necklaces. It should be noted that I don't have pierced ears so that's never an issue. If I do happen to pack some pieces, it's individually inside zip lock bags.

PS> save empty toilet tissue rolls to store and transport your longer necklaces in to keep them tangle free.

I take very little jewelry with me when I travel. I have a small soft sided purse with sections. I pack my jewelry, Garmin, and chargers in there, and as a bonus I have a small casual purse to use when I'm doing things with the grandchildren.

Now that is a great idea.

CJO.

Good question! On our last trip I simply wore my jewelry. But I wear the same pieces every day and seldom vary it. Easy and nothing else to keep up with during travel.

Love those cute travel bags for jewelry. They would make great gifts too.

I think I'm in the minority here, but when we travel I leave my jewelry at home. However, I discovered when we went to Italy this summer that it was a good excuse to buy some while we were there!
