OK, this room is not as "fluffy" as y'all are used to seeing from me. Have tried to "defluff" it a little for selling.
I'm still fiddling around with accessories; please ignore lame things like dangling cords, those pitiful sticks of eucalyptus in the vases (I like the vases & think they need something tall but didn't have anything so put those in for effect), and no bed skirt...I took off everything so I could try out 3 separate bedding options...
I need to know if you think ANY of these will work or if I need to bag 'em all up & go back out shopping!
Not just the bedding, but ANYTHING you see you think could be improved/changed/ixnayed...please say so. Y'all have helped me soooo much!
First, though is a "before" picture...we went from reds & blues & greens to...
eta: The red was not as red as the pic looks, the new blue is not as "baby blue" as the pic shows.

Here is 1 bedding option; this pic shows the room as you're looking at it from the doorway from the hall.
This is about the only place in this room to put the bed; I have tried everything. Up above the window are these awesome storage cabinets...we have really enjoyed those. Good place for "out of sight, out of mind" things!
Closer view of bedding. That door you see to the left goes to the master bath; beside it is this huge armoire...talk about the elephant in the room! There is about 2 feet of space btw it & the bed, though, it is not as close as it looks in the pic.

Here are several pics I put together to show you the rest of the room...
1st one is to the right of the door, then on to the fireplace...that door leads to the porch. I hate that chair in the corner...it needs "something"...not sure what...
****mumbles***We never, in 22 years got around to fixing up this fireplace...
Remember my $362 light fixture that I got for $51 from Overstock? That's it...I think it ROCKS...hope y'all like it.
Definitely prefer bedding #2 as it seems to be the same color as the window frames. If it were mine I'd remove the tassels and use them elsewhere but that's cause my cats would have too much fun with them on the floor!
Do you have a bedskirt to go with that quilt?
I like the blue, what brand and color is it?
IMO the chair in the corner is fine, just needs a brighter/darker cushion. Do you have another like the brown ones on the bed? or a blue one? or even better a blue/green print.
Mantel could use more, here's a pic with an idea which might work as your mantel looks fairly narrow... altho you might need a larger pic or that one hung lower.
It's gonna look great!

I definately like #2 the best. On my monitor the color looks like a better match and the style is more in keeping with your house. The other two look more modern.
I'll have to be the "odd man out" and say I like #1. The pattern on number two is too fancy for me and it is similair to what you often see, #3 is too comtemporary, but I really like #1. But I would say, buy what you really like and will want to use in the future. Maybe for you chair corner, a big green fern or other plant raised up off the floor.
I liked #1 (blue) best and definitely didn't like #3.
When I saw #2, it reminded me of a cream colored bedspread I saw at Wal-Mart which was just lovely. $78 for entire outfit including a dust ruffle. Solid colored. It might work in your room.
I like #1 the best....the blue spread. It looks so nice with the wood in the room and the pretty painted walls. I love all the shelves by the bed. The chair looks nice in the corner. It just needs a plant or some greenery over there.

Here is my take: definitely like bedding #1. Definitely don't like bedding #3 with that room. Bedding #1 is not in keeping w/the rest of the house, but the solid blue walls are also not in keeping w/the downstairs, so a bit of something else is called for in this room. It is not ugly "different", it's very pretty "different", and the solids might be a good respite for the eyes for those who like victorian, but get overpowered by all the fussiness.
Do you have large pieces of accessories you could showcase in those shelves? Big plates, artwork? If so, I'd just go ahead and clear almost the whole thing of books, and make it a curio for LARGE and interesting things. Nothing small and dainty goes in there. Everything in the room is massive, and small things draw attention to the limited floor space. If you need to keep the books, limit them to the bottom shelves, and no books on the shelves that don't take at least 3/4 of the space of the shelf. (In other words, don't fill a shelf w/books if it's 12 inches up to the next shelf.) Stack them sideways if you have to to achieve the "fullness" of the shelf. I'd take all the candles out of the bookcase - they look too "light" to anchor it.
Try lowering the picture on the wall over the fireplace to about 6 inches above the mantle. It's too high, and draws attention to the "left over" space. The colors look like they would still work in that room w/the blue spread. Take down the vases on the mantle. You might experiment w/the look of the vases in the larger holes of the bookcase.
Do you have anything big that would be symetrical to put in the bookcase?
Do you also have any floorlamps? I would experiment with those near the bed, and work on seeing if I could somehow remove the bedside lamps. In the photo, they look small for the space. Do you also have any metal glass end tables? (Ha! - Probably not). I'd try to see if I could switch them out for the wooden ones. They'd still be useful, but kind of "disappear" that way.
Try putting your flat book in the bookcase on a stand, so it takes more space. If it's that interesting that you have it open, it should still be interesting to close it and put it upright on a stand. Or leave it open on a stand if the pages cooperate.
Very pretty room....

I definitely like #1. I sensed peaceful and calming looking at that pic. You guys are calling it blue but it looks gray on my screen. Nonetheless, it looks great and I love the brwon accent pillows. Number 2 has no umphh for me and #3 is too busy for the room. JMO.
Michele...chime away. That what this board is for. When someone asks for opinions they really want everyone's opinion no matter the experience.
And I'm going to place my vote for #1 also. But I hope you have something else for nightstands. Altho I like TV tray tables (at least that is what they look like to me) don't really like the look for a nightstand.

I like #1. And it is too bad you can't move the bed away from that window. I know all the shows say that windows like that are selling points and it's a shame to cover it up. A bed skirt would help pull it together. (I would say a box pleated, or straight one. No ruffles).
