i just bought a beaded panel for my dining room, in place of sheers. A few family members thought it wasn't right for the dining room, but i think it is because the beaded panels are just unfamiliar to them. Are beaded panels 'tacky' or 'out'? These are from jcpenney, and are not meant for a teenage room (as some people may think of when they think beads). I admit i am not "up" on things, so if an experienced decorator says skip the beads, i will.

I don't really think any window treatment ever goes "in" or "out."

Are you using the beads alone? I've never used beads before but every time I've seen them, they've been used on top of another treatment that is functional, so I could see them as a better fit on top of sheers, as opposed to in place of sheers.

I love the beaded panels at Penney's these days! But my preference is to use them WITH another treatment, usually sheers. I looked at the Penney's website and the ones with just beaded on the windows look too sparse. But that's just my preference. Maybe simple and sparse is the look you're after. Then it would work.

i have the beaded panel with two side panels in front of it. I just didn't like the way sheers looked on that window and in that room. (i have pella windows with blinds between the glass which is why it look white behind it)
does it look okay?

Looks wonderful. The beads really "make" the window treatment.

I think they're absolutely gorgeous! Totally unexpected, and completely elegant. I never would've thought to do beads in place of sheers, but it really works! Gorgeous!

thanks...i liked them and was hoping to get approval (honest approval of course)

this is a picture of the window with sheers. I DON'T like it, but if anybody out there thinks that this does look better, let me know. (tried several different colors of sheers)

Personally, I say stick with the beads. They have so much more personality. But that's just my opinion! Smile

If you tried the sheers at 3x your window's fullness (recommended) you might like the look better. Also, they appear to be quite short for the window?

The beads look exceptionally beautiful. I never cared for them back in the '60s, but your beads look wonderful. Thanks for posting your photo as you gave me an idea of how to cover my family room bay window. We have a heavily wooded lot and our across the street neighbors have deep woods that we also view. After years of a heavy window treatment, we took it down and WOW! We don't want to close that view off with draperies, sheers or anything else. These might give us our view yet provide a treated look.

Thanks for posting the beads! Smile

WOW! Those are gorgeous! I have to admit, I was thinking about those room divider beads from the 60's/70's (which, at the time I thought were very cool . . . I was very young then! Wink). Your beads are so, so pretty though! They look much better than just the sheers!
