I have a off-centered fireplace on an angled wall. One side is about 5 inches less than the other. Is there something I can do, short of ripping the whole thing out, to make this less noticeable?
No pics yet. It's only a difference of about 5 inches, just enough to look really off. The previous owner had some custom tile work done which really shows how off-center the fireplace really is. We are at a loss.
This type of thing is one of my pet peeves with contractors/builders/tradesmen. I was constantly supervising the construction of our last home so had few unpleasant surprises. Even good tradesmen are sometimes oblivious to these "slightly-off" dimensions which for some of us are very important.
Without a pic it's difficult to know the best solution for you but if the wall is painted the same color as the fireplace face it will be less noticeable. However if the facing is stone or brick and there is tile on the wall that may not work well. Would you want to remove the tile and paint the wall to match/tone with the fireplace face?

Hi Cree, i know the feeling i have a corner fireplace, and instead of centering the window in the room, and there was no reason why they couldn't have, it's in the back of the house, the window is about 1 foot away. I've thought about tearing it out to, but i've alway's wanted a fireplace, but it has made it difficult for furniture placement and my kitchen counter being open to the living room. It's just a plain drywalled fireplace. Hope you can come up with a solution, then you can help me. myna1022
