DH came home with the mail yesterday and asked "what magazine did I order that was so heavy?"
It was the new 3lb 690 page Restoration Hardware Fall Source Book. It also had a smaller RH catalog of Big Style/Small Spaces.
I must say the photography and layout is gorgeous and the furniture and accessories are as usual, high end and expensive.
I've never seen a company put this much money into sending out a catalog in the mail. I know if you go to Ethan Allen sometimes they will give you a nice hardcover design book. I wonder how many of these huge things they sent out?
I definitely got some great ideas from it, even if I don't purchase a thing. This message has been edited. Last edited by: zone9alady,

Got mine today. It's heavier than my town's phone directory! My fave: the "Big Style/Small Spaces" supplement which features vignettes of small rooms in different cities using scaled down pieces.
Love the articles, especially the one about the two guys who create RH's awesome leather furniture.
Yes, RH has many pricey and over-scaled items, but I actually found a few things I swooned over and that I can actually afford. Even DH liked what he saw. It's a fabulous resource and idea book.
I love seeing things online, but once in a while, you want to curl up with a big fat catalog and dream. Especially one as beautiful as this.
Oh, I know what you mean....that catalog is HUGE! We have to use a key to get our mail and the box isn't that big. I skipped a day of getting it and the next day I found a letter from the mail lady. She said she couldn't fit all the mail in the box and I would have to go down to the post office to get it. Sure enough when I went down there it was because that catalog was there and nothing else would fit in the box!
I haven't received one yet, so I guess I won't. I am on a list that asks them not to send catalogs, but it never deters Pottery Barn from sending me one a week at least.
Got my RH catalogues last week - thought I was getting the old Sears catalog it was so heavy. Did like the small spaces booklet as the items are more in scale to our rooms.

Well, darn. I haven't gotten mine. Come to think of it, though, I didn't buy anything from RH this past year. That may be why. Oh well, I still have my three pounder from last year.
I got mine last Friday. We were headed to our cabin, so I took it along. It was the perfect browse for a cool rainy Saturday afternoon. I found many wonderful ideas I can emulate for our home and cabin, but since we just finished a major renovation at the cabin, I won't be going for the authentic RH pieces just yet!

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, you'll enjoy the RH knock-offs (and their more affordable prices)from Home Decorator Collection: http://www.homedecorators.com/Ecatalog/

Not likely. Their CEO, founder Gary Friedman, resigned because of an inter-company romance with a female staffer, which is verboten at RH. Both are still seeing each other and are no longer at RH, just in case you were dying to know.
RH has recently announced a brand new apparel and accessories line called Hierarchy...and may offer an IPO. That should be interesting.

I ordered a few things from Home Decorators in the past, artwork, rugs etc., they have some nice things but I haven't seen much on the same level as RH. I saw in a new catalog they do have that Chesterfield type leather sofa, but it just doesn't look the same, and I doubt it's made as well.
I noticed what some of you have said before about the lack of color in most of their merchandise. I rather like their neutrals only because I can add my own color.
RH apparel??? That SHOULD be interesting!

I also have some accent stuff from Home Decorators: OK design, about what you'd expect for RTA furniture. When it comes to knock-offs, ya get what you pay for. Since it's just DH and I, we are very easy on our furnishings. I wouldn't purchase any major furniture like sofas from Home Decorators, though.
Here's hoping RH is considerably better in quality for the prices they're charging.
