Dear HGTV,

My name is Luke,

I am writing to you today regarding advice on a small Business start up.

When it comes to Interior Design I'm relatively new although in understanding the underlying concept to making successful transactions.

I have come up with an idea of decorating rooms based on themes from an industry I'm devoted to and know inside out. The structure of the design is very heavily dependent on color schemes and relating the interior to the theme concept.

Personally I want to keep things simple, I'd like to stick to bed covers, wall pictures, wall color, carpet and the odd piece of furniture.

Idealistically I'd be looking at targeting casual homeowners who can go through my website with the template designs and buy the kit which could be installed into their bedroom.

There would be over 40-50 different color scheme's and designs based on my industry which should offer some variety although I wouldn't feel comfortable in being employed to re-design an empty room but rather implement my product to whom may want it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Good luck with your enterprise but advertising is strictly forbidden on these forums, thus the membership can not help you.

Dear Luke,
If what you are realy looking for is Business advice, then I suggest that you contact your local Better Busssiness Beaure(sp?). and not pot on this board.
Like others have said, it sound more like your advertizing your bussinss, which is not allowed or apprciated by the members of the board.

I do apologize if this is how things are coming across but at the minute I do not have a "business" but what I do have is an "idea" although I can see how things have been confused.

My honest opinion is that I don't really like your idea. Basically what you are saying is that someone can purchase a package deal on a bedspread, and piece of wall art, and get the information on what carpet and wall color to use with it. Something like that. That idea is not original, and is available in any catalog out there. Design "kits" are boring, cookie-cutter, and go against everything I believe in as a designer.

My advice, since you asked for it, is that you come up with a more original business idea. Just being honest here.

Luke, your idea may make for a great business venture, but this is not the best forum for seeking help. (As you can see from most of the posts here.)

Why don't you look into the services of the Small Business Administration, which is set up precisely to help aspiring small business entrepreneurs like yourself. Here's a link to get you started: http://www.sba.gov/category/na...nking-about-starting

Best of luck.
