We have just built a pergola for the backyard and I want to hand some drapes for a cozy look.... Does anyone have any ideas on where to buy outdoor drapes or maybe a creative way to make them without having to break the bank??? Give me your ideas please!!!

I've heard of using painter's drop cloths for outdoor drapes. I recently bought some at Lowe's for painting, but they are heavy weight cotton, 9 x 12, two to a package for $8! They are a natural color but you could dye them. They certainly wouldn't be the filmy type that I've seen used in some places but they would hold up to outdoors!!

Seems like someone here posted about using them for that purpose. Anyone remember that??

You could use Sunbrella fabric, which is what outdoor cushions are made of.

I just made my own using outdoor fabric from Hancock Fabrics. There's nothing to it. You simply determine the length you need, allow for hems on all sides, then stitch. Mine (and my daughter's) are simply hung using clip-on rings which are attached to bronze cup hooks. They are easy to take down in case of inclement weather. Here's mine:

WOWEE!!! I LOVE these....I had thought of doing it on my porch, but with a more gauzy functional mosquito netting stuff that I can close, but see through....cause I am a 'mosquito magnet' and can't be outside for 5 minutes b4 being eaten alive.... Eek

I may go ahead and do this next spring!
