Thanks Everyone! It's fun to see such a "can-do" attitude with your projects. ~Like sands through the hourglass ~So are the days of our lives
These 'board gals' are the CAN DO GALS!
great thread. have enjoyed all the projects. Finaly got photos on new computer so here is one of mine. This room was completely gutted. walls were very bad. DH dit the plumbing, and we had the counter top professionally done, but I did the rest. Below the cahir rail is that torn brown paper (remember when everyone was doing that?) what a messy project but everyone likes it, so was worth the work.
homebody! What a GREAT look! I still like the torn paper projects and still see some featured on Pinterest photos! Your project looks GREAT! Thanks so much for sharing with us on this thread! I also like the torn tissue paper too... has great texture to a wall.
Beautiful bathroom Homebody. You 2 do great work.
WOW oh Wow!!! the projects galore!!! I am not here real regularly, and boy am I glad to get to see these - and some are being seen for a reminder... Mary Ruth - You go girl!!! ~~~becca~~~~

out on a limb, Thanks girl, and isn't EVERYBODY so wonderful for sharing!

What a fun thread and so many great projects!! I like them all, but there are too many to comment on individually. Ditto to the comment about the amazing talents of the members on this board!! I'm tardy to the party, but as DH and I are avid golfers, a lot of our decor is centered around golf. In our den, I built 2 cornice boards and upholstered them to match a wing chair that I also upholstered using a golf themed tapestry fabric. I also installed the plaid wallpaper behind the chair, the golf border and painted the wall above the border. Here is the chair and wall treatment:
Here is one of the 2 cornice boards that I built and upholstered. It has a wooden GOLF sign sitting on top. When I was building the cornices, my next door neighbor asked what I was building and I told him "cornice boards." He didn't know what they were, so after I finished them, I invited he and his wife over to see the final product. They were very complimentary. CandyThis message has been edited. Atta Girl! I really like that playful letters to say Golf! And the cornice board, you did a GREAT job on that! I really like the fabric on the chair and then repeated on the cornice board. Great job!
Wow! I love seeing all of your wonderful accomplishments. You are talented, energetic DIY-ers. (and I'm not...LOL!)
Gracie, You have a CAN Do attitude for sure! AND you are smart, creative AND very supportive and positive to us on this board...! Atta Girl!
That's kind of you, Mary Ruth. I may become a DIY-er someday. In the meantime, I'll enjoy all that you and other posters create.
Nothing like what you all have accomplished, but something I wanted to try, and I kinda like it. It's a vacation home at the beach...a mobile home, and I'm trying to revamp it a little at a time, especially those "flowered" walls. I removed the batten strips, textured and painted the living room, kitchen, and hallway. There is just a small wall between the fridge and the hallway that I kept "seeing" as a stone wall, so I made "stones" from joint compound. Each visit, I worked on various stages of the painting. Now, if I can post a pic, you can see the before and after. (Don't expect anything like yours!) ![]()

After: (looks like I need to correct the date on the camera) ![]()

Trudi! HOW CREATIVE! I am impressed that you made your 'vision' come true! What you saw is NOW THERE! Looks like you did a great job with making that stone wall look like a real one! I like that you altered the colors a bit like real stones. And you gave it a beachy feel too. Did you have FUN creating it? I can just imagine how you feel now seeing it for real in your kitchen! Trudi -- wow, I really like it. Do you have any pics from further away? I don't know how you did that but kudos.
Mary Ruth, I really did have fun doing it, though doing a little each visit was a bit frustrating, because I wanted to complete it all at once, but time didn't permit it. Thanks for your kind words...I've admired your projects for a long time. MLV1, thank you too! I think I have some shots from a distance, but they don't show the dimension as well. Still you can see the change. I'll look for them.
It wasn't finished in this pic, but you get the idea. ![]()

Never really liked my stereo cabinet. The speakers went out on it years ago and just kept it around as a table. Decided it was time to redo. Here's the before: ![]()

And after gutting it and taking off some things, here's what it looked like after: ![]()

Wow! You did a great job updating that piece, Lensgaga. It looks terrific. Trudi, Your project is so clever. I tried once to make some tall lamp tables by covering cardboard footers with joint compound. They didn't turn out so hot and went straight to the curb. Someone liked them, though, because they disappeared before the trash truck arrived. LOL!
Lensgaga, that's quite a transformation! Love the black. Graciepj, I'll bet they were better than you thought! Somewhere, someone is enjoying them immensely. I would've loved to see them.
Trudi, WOW, I LIKE that! I can see why you 'saw' a stone wall there! You did a great job with balancing the stone shapes and sizes. I like the way it came out! And you tied in the colors for your living space nicely. GREAT job on that wall! Thanks so much for showing us the photo of the whole room and for sharing this project with us! I KNOW you smile when you see that wall when you arrive at your beach vacation spot! Well, besides being at the beach!!! lensgaga, What a difference in that cabinet! Such a different more modern look! And the black makes such a difference, I like that you left the top in wood, ties in the floor too. GREAT project! Thanks so much for sharing with us! And the pictures are great, really lets us see the transformation! ___________________________________ One thing I LOVE about showing our favorite projects (especially the photos) is that you can see how we all had a VISION, then 'went for it' and DID IT! I mean that really motivates me to look around to see what else I have that I could transform! I think there is NOT MUCH that us gals on this board couldn't do! ___________________________________ Thanks EVERYONE for being so kind as to share your projects! I LOVE this thread!!! * Mary Ruth ![]() *****We don't see things as they are, we see things as WE are! ***** (Anaias Nin)***** http://pinterest.com/mary_ruth/

Thanks, Mary Ruth! You are so right about how motivating all these projects are. They have me looking around too.

My favorite was our kitchen and kitchen cabinet redo in our other house which we now have up for sale. It went from plain cabinets... to this...barn red which I adore. We added a shelf above to the header for display, refaced the cabinet doors with trim and added new hinges and knobs. Cost was less than $100.00 for the redo since I shopped around and got great prices on the new hinges and knobs. I repapered which was also $100.00 for the paper. We added crown molding too which isn't shown in this next picture. Added new flooring...linoleum that looks like wood. ...a new light and here you can see the crown molding too. ...and the back splash I did with paintable wallpaper cutting it into tile squares and painting it. Forgot to add that we also put in new countertops. All this was done over time but it came together so well. ...and to add you can see the ceiling in the one above. My dd, son and I scraped all the popcorn ceiling off and redid it too. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Lisa Ann, I am what I am because He is I AM!!!

I have been looking over this post with great admiration of all of the talented people on this forum! It would be impossible for me to comment individually, so I will simply say... BRAVO to all!!!
Lisa Ann! What a transformation with that kitchen redo! I LOVE the AFTER! The before was not bad either, but your project really made a HUGE difference! Are you missing the RED? And to do it with a low budget like you did, what a GREAT redo! Thanks meldin for your positive comments!
Mary Ruth I do miss the red cabinets. We worked so hard to get them done and it just transformed the whole room. We put our hearts into it. Never thought we would be anywhere else but there but life can change suddenly and unexpectedly. I do love my new kitchen cabinets here in our new house too. Of course I have some touches of red in the valances and accents. Red is my favorite color. What I'm loving in the new house cabinets is the deep drawers for pots and pans and all space I have for things. I have room for big appliances in the island cabinets. I'm having fun decorating too. I've got some small projects to do that I'll use in the kitchen area. I've been sick about all winter with one thing or another so progress has been slow on those. Thanks for the compliments, I am what I am because He is I AM!!!
Lisa Ann, I remember those wonderful red cabinets, and the clever paper tiles!!! So glad to get to see them again. I remember pics of your new house in progress, but I haven't seen the finished result as yet.
Lisa Ann, So sorry to hear you have been sick so long! The weather sure has kept a lot of us indoors this winter! I will look forward to any photos you want to post of what you do in your new house! LIFE has a way of changing our DIY plans!
Trudi we have been in our new home for almost a year now. Hard to believe. We still have work outside to get done...front walkway, landscaping and adding a garage. Things have slowed until we get our other house sold. The inside is all done. I'm decorating a little at a time as I find the things I want. Kind of a work in progress I guess. We are loving all the space we have both inside and out. Animals are too...both our tame and the wild ones on the property...and we have many of those. I'll try and get some pics this week. Photobucket has been acting up for me since I have a different computer. Have a great new camera the kids got me for Christmas so I can't wait to have pretty weather to try it outside. I am what I am because He is I AM!!!

Looking forward to seeing the pics.
