This is what I found while searching CL this week, NOT what I wanted to purchase, but found the picture of the dog on Pinerest, thought they were a GOOD match! (like when they say that pets start to look like their owners lol) Some MMF's humor!
I will post my find next.

found this on CL end of last week. They are two (2) dressers stacked on top of one another. Both for $75 so I had to go check them out!

CL photo shows them stacked and secured from the back so one of the dressers had legs cut off. I will replace with a bun foot type new leg system.

I got them and separated the two to use as night stands. They will get sanded and weathered to become grayed. That project won't start for a while, so I put one in place to see how I liked it in the room.

Walls will be pale blueish gray (beach type feel) and floors our medium brown plank tiles we are doing the whole house with. And the feet (one dresser has the foot part cut off) will be trimmed to be even with the dresser bottom and bun feet added (wood flattened round feet). That will raise the dressers to the be 30" height I wanted for our king sleigh bed height compatibility. Next post will be dresser in place

Previous was CL photo this is in my home in my master bedroom, not finished decorating. That project is after a few others.

This photo shows a temporary set up, thinking about the mirror or a picture on the wall. Also, we have swing arm lamps to electrify and set up so no lamps will be necessary.

The dresser will be 4" taller when bun feet are added. And the finish will be a weathered, gray with amber tones. Right now they fall short of the mattress height of the bed.

Dressers are solid Oak, made around 1900's, was owned by only a couple of families, this last relative had them for 50 yrs. We will reinforce from the inside and they will get a full sanding and thinking of new knobs, checking out Anthopolgie, love their stuff. Not in any hurry, and might just leave these, depends if I need to add a metal on the pieces.

Picture on the right (you see part of the frame) is another consideration for hanging on the wall, eventually there will be drapery panels pulled back to that corner, double window on that wall.

Great finds, Mary Ruth! I love your ideas for the furniture and can't wait to see the results.

I had another good Craigslist weekend, myself. I spied this rug week before last but was unwilling to pay the advertised price $200...even though it was probably worth it, considering it's a 12' long wool runner with no tears, stains, pet/smoke odors, etc. The colors seemed perfect for my house. Anyway, while browing again on Thursday, I noticed the price was down to $100. I jumped on it. The seller said she had originally purchased the rug on a liquidation sale for $537.

LOS, Thanks! If I want some bling on those drawers I spotted some mercury glass knobs that have me thinking especially if I use the mirror! If I use the mirrors, the bamboo frame will get another layer of mahogany wood around it as if the bamboo were the matting, then get a gray glaze over that honey colored bamboo part. I am thinking of distressing the mirror to look aged too... since they will not be used as looking glass mirrors.

Mary Ruth, love the bedside tables. It sounds like they're very well made too. Can't wait to see them when you're finished. Scary, but I think that doggie does look a little like the couch.

I love Oak, but so sick of it in my house. Doing my daughter's table (oak parsons) made me love the grain with a gray stain to it looking weathered and grayed, sort of beach like driftwood. That is what they will be when I am finished. There will be amber tones but lighter than they are now with that dark old finish covering up the wood. I will make them a bit distressed. I can't wait to get to work on them!

Picture is when I weathered the oak on my daughter's dining Parsons table, this is the look I liked and want to copy. just to the right in that photo is the original finish of her table (just like what I have on those dressers).

Wow Mary Ruth, that finish is lovely! Perfect combination of gray/blue. I would love a dining table in that finish!

Mary Ruth, I am so curious as to how you achieved that weathered look step by step. I may have missed your explanation earlier. I would appreciate a tutorial on this. I think it looks fantastic and your bureaus in your FL home would be perfect with this look. I love that the grain of the wood is still seen unlike painting furniture. You are certainly a talented and inspirational lady! Thanks for sharing.

We actually did have real Monday morning finds today as we made a transfer station run to see if some bricks I had seen at Sat. were still there.

They were. We brought 66 home in the car and need 220 to make a very small patio section for just 2 chairs. Back again on Wed. We also got a lot of hardware things, bits, etc. glass and brass knobs (not combined) don't know I haven't had a chance to check it all out. But I dearly love hardware. We could have gotten clamps and pry bars and saws etc. Probably 2 or $3 hundred worth of stuff but only took what we needed or think we will use.

Mary Ruth the table top looks terrific!

Not Monday MORNING finds but rather Monday AFTERNOON finds -- had lunch with a friend in the town 20 miles east and after we went to the flea market -- I found this sweet Masons Vista dish -- from the mark on the back between 1891 and 1920 -- price -- $1.50!!!

Not a flea market find but a "much wanted" -- saw this cookie cutter on several blogs and decided that I NEEDED it! Searched high and low and a friend suggested perhaps Amazon/Canada -- went there they had one left -- ordered it on Thursday and it was on my doorstep today! I can't wait to make cookies with it.

The downside -- the recipe book that comes with it is in French!!! LOL!

LOS, glad your bricks were still there. I love paying little or nothing when shopping. It's half the fun. Hope we get to see your project when completed.

Linderhof, I want to come and visit you so badly. I love all of your finds and your wonderful menus, recipes and table settings. That cookie cutter is a classic. I guess you'll have to translate the cookbook.

Skyler, that photo shows the amber coming through from the original (naturally honey toned wood) and the weathered gray, which may look blue on your screen, but IRL it is grayed like driftwood. I LOVED that so much that it motivated me to buy those dressers so I could have that finish on something in my house!
My daughter loved another inspirational piece that was lighter gray, less imperfections and more modern, so I did another step to her table that had stain applied on top of this weathering treatment.
I liked it just as is shown, so I will make my dressers like this. Of course since it is natural wood I am working with that means it can have varried turn out for colors with each project. I love the imperfections of natural wood, and the chance to see Oak in a whole different way!

I want to visit you and go to this transfer station! It sure would be fun. In Nova Scotia when I would visit there, I loved checking out the old shops they had too, things you just don't see around here.

you got that shelf already pale aqua? And it matches with your things already? Now that is a FIND! I used to love going to all the thrift and antique stores in your area when I lived there. There was one in Virginia Beach called the (something, can't remember) was it white... Elephant, upstairs was rugs and bedroom furniture. I bought a few things there.

And the cookie cutter is nice The little butter house, how cute. Google 'translator' then copy what you read into the box they provide for text, click on 'French to English' and you should be able to figure out what is mostly said.

I will post a link to my directions with photos, simple and easy to do. I need to finish my daughter's table first so she can come and get it, then it is ALL MY projects! finally after 8 months of waiting to do something in our house! (we are almost all finished with the kids kitchens, that is 2 kitchens) Whew!

Kansas! Long ways away. I have never been to the West Coast, got as far as Texas on my way up to Denver from Florida one time way back.

We'll need a camper! When we traveled from Boston to Texas, we rented a Winnebago and when we got home, the bathtub in that thing was full of our shopping spree items!

I don't have any finds (although that may change tomorrow when I attend the Bar Harbor Antiques Show), but we are feeling good about the renovations at the cabin being completed and landscaping at our home done. We are thrilled with the results. The BEST update though, is that yesterday, DH was discharged from PT! He will still have months of OT, but yesterday was another big step forward in his progress.

Mary Ruth, I forgot about visiting Maine Lady and BrittanyDogMom in addition to Emily's treasure trove (transfer station). Okay, I guess I'd better meet you in Maine and we can drive together to Kansas.

Maine Lady, I am so happy to hear that your husband has achieved one more milestone on his road to recovery.

Thank you Gracie and MaryRuth! DH's continued progress and the completion of projects at home and camp have kept us busy, but upbeat! While we would have liked to save $ DIY, it has been worth it to have the work done.

DTwin is arriving for breakfast, then we will visit the antiques show and sale. My adventures this summer keep me pretty close to home and this one is almost in my back yard. There is another large antique show and sale ( for those of you planning a road trip) in Bar Harbor Aug 21-22. I plan to attend that one, too!
