Every time the color comes up she mentions killed animals in order to kill anything about that person selection. It is she who has the problem. Who else thinks of organs and meat with that color. After all we wear it. And I think of flowers and zinnias etc. She needs to get over it or move on............

I posted in another thread that I think Gen is delusional and narcissistic. What a total brass plated b*tch she comes off as. Where does she come off putting down a color like that and acting so disrespectful about a great room because of it? I agree, she is the one with the problem. Too bad her opinion seems to have ruled in the end. I think HGTV needs new judges on this show. These in a word, suck big time if they thought Leslie deserved to win.

When I was in college I had a design teacher who gave my project an “F” because I used the color green. She wrote on top of it, “Anyone who likes the color green deserves to fail.” Come to find out, she had a brain tumor and it would skew her thinking and judgment. Maybe Genevieve has a brain tumor? LOL jk

I think that Gen decides who she wants to win and then finds some way to dislike everyone elses design. There was nothing wrong with Hilari's color, but her container was so great that was the only thing Gen could criticize.

Paint color seems to be her "go to" for eliminating contestents. What I don't understand is why the rest of the judges let her get away with it.

I suppose the designers are so good they can find little fault with the design elements. Tom was eliminated back in his season for the dark blue in a bathroom. I feel anything goes these days with personal likes for color, though I could see it.
I once had a landlord in the seventies go bizirk cause I wanted a bathroom in peach tones. An art teacher too mind you. I wish I could talk to him today about colors in the bathrooms.!!

And then tom stays in his neutrals etc. And dan was faulted for his colors. They tried to accuse Tom of the color choice, when it was Dan's.

i can see it I guess if we as fans watch a show and it's orange or some odd color all the time.

I personally always have felt that Davids designs and color although good and universal were still masculine to me. But this was before Pink came in the scene as much as it has been. I am lucky to have lived in the century of pink.
And interesting it was to me that his comment about Hilary's selection of color seemed to him to be femine.!!

You know Hilary took classes in pr or whats another word for pr or studying what people will like you for. Perhaps she learned about color selections etc. And Knew it was a warm color.
[and I doubt her color classes said that these warm tones reflect meat color.]

oh grrr - everytime that tall woman [Gen] says it about meat tones, I want to slap her.!!

Responding to my own post here:

I am actually thinking now that Gen really isn't that deranged - She is fabricating a reason to get rid of someone, which is why it sounds so ridiculous and not fair. I'm thinking that the producers tell her who they want to get rid of and she and Vern have to make that decision look justified by finding things to put down about the person's work. And Gen is over-acting that part and looking whacko and like a b*tch in the process!

I didn't dislike the color, though I can imagine four walls of it in an 8 x 20 space, with tons of sunlight, could be intense or even a bit "hot". I can't say I was crazy about the use of the space. The weakest aspect was the center, the choice of a long, narrow sofa facing a black wall only a few feet away seeming less than ideal.

On the other hand, I thought Hil would win based solely on her use of the deck - not genius by any means, but at least she used it.

Tom's container/room was very attractive, but had little to do with the creative challenge of a small space. It was the self-same treatment he gave to the giant white box, so didn't show any range.

Leslie's room addressed the reality of how that container might be used: as an extra space at a weekend house, etc. She didn't do anything special outside, but inside she "got" the challenge.

Looking back, one of the most important aspects to any of the challenges and elimination is "listening" - and designers are constantly in a challenge to be listening and interpreting clients' needs, wants, misgivings ... Kelly, for instance, created a really pretty and television-ready white box. Unfortunately, she didn't listen to the directive: it wasn't a white box challenge, it was a "no budget, go for your ultimate" challenge. She was clearly focused on the misguided attempt to undo a previous white box mistake. When you think about it, she went home for the same reason the first time: the kid wanted bunk beds, and she couldn't bring herself to deliver them.

Gen needs to get off her high horse and remember that she is a Trading Spaces cast off who ran around barefoot and wore bindis on her face. I do not care if she hired a stylist to give her a new look. She is still an awful designer. Not liking the color salmon is odd but i have a friend that can not drink rd wine because it reminds her of church.People are strange.
