Yurt Design Themes and other comments
I just do not see an overall idea in Danielle's yurt. I understand Hilari's and Britany's. Some are wondering why Britany left the floors uncovered. It makes sense that they are left bare. Hers was a beach theme. The floors left bare are natural in appearance. The large round lighting fixture symbolizes the sun. Her yurt is very clean, clear, relaxing, and bright.

Danielle, on the other hand, suggests no theme in her design, and those rugs turned me off more than anything else. It looks as if she just purchased a bunch of items that caught her eye and placed them strategically about the room. The effect is virtually no effect. I would not be able to relax in that room.

Hilari not only had a cohesive theme, but her design was luxurious. She met the objective.

Hilari would be great with her own show. Britany would be very successful in her show for the simple fact that she lets her design speak for her. You do not really notice a personality.....but that is the very reason that I think that she would be a success. We could finally get to enjoy an HGTV show where the personality and silliness do not get in the way. Those of us who are interested in the design can share that focus with the hostess. I've said it before, and I will say it again, if the no-personality style is good enough for Scott McGillvray then it should be good enough for someone like Britany. And while I'm at it, let me just state that Will Smith should have won Season 2 (Kim Myles season). The judges were not receptive of his personality either, but he was clearly the best designer of the bunch.

Can't HGTV consider a different direction? Think about it. To the degree that do not, then they are discriminating against the uniqueness of many while validating one type (profiling). Question is, who gets to decide what that type is?

I just wish the judges would remember what the challenge was......... a fantasy bedroom suite.

Britany's was nice but it certainly wasn't a fantasy suite. Neither was Danielle's. Hilari was the only one that fulfilled the challenge.

Maybe they should start out the season telling us what they are really looking for in a Design Star. My definition may be different from yours and I am sure it is different from the producers. Give us some guidelines so we don't have the same disappointments season after season.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!! What a huge mistake letting Hilary go. I would NEVER be interested in the blonde's show she has NO camera persence at all....a yawn fest if you ask me. Some of her design ideas are ok but she shows no personality on camera. Danielle has great ideas too but on camera I feel awkward watching her as though she is feeling awkward and she said that many, many times. Maybe it will get better as she does it more often but Hilary already had the personality, the charm and authenticity in front of the camera and I LOVED all her color and designs. I loved her part of that kitchen challenge...the judges are so yesterday's news they are not good at this anymore. I have no desire to watch their shows. I only watch design star to see all of the different styles of the contestants...the judges are the boring, stressful part for me because they are not good at what they are doing. I would have watched Hilary's show over any of the others....to bad you made the wrong decision but it just doesn't surprize me with the two of them choosing!

I totally agree with MessengerA about Brittany. She definitely would be someone I would watch for the simple reason that she is quiet and lets her designs be the star. What a concept! That's how this network started, with the designs being the focus. They are so far away from that now, I don't know if anyone who still is at HGTV can remember that.

Kim Miles had a great personality and did a horrible horrible show. I could not stand to watch her.

Scott McIlvray is professional who's work is fabulous and who I watch because of the interesting work done on the show.

Hilary was a darling girl and I liked her designs and would have been happy with any of the three ladies left. However, if the choice were MINE, I'd vote for Brittany for the reasons I wrote above.
