I'm really disappointed. Leslie's designs are good, but I don't want to see a show with Leslie skating around on overdrive, she just does not have the personality or demeanor to host a show. Way to neurotic for my taste.

She does not get her own show.Just a guest slot on an existing HGTV program, more importantly $25,000.00.

Your telling me. Out of all three Leslie I would have put third. Hilari should have won.

I registered to this website just so I could voice my disappointment with the outcome of this show!! Leslie should have been out LONG ago. I agree, Hilari should have won. Matter of fact, Hilari should have been the top two in the last Design Star. When this All-Star show began, I figured this was way to bring Hilari back to make things right. But Leslie to win? Please, you've got to be kidding. Her box container was an eyesore and sloppy. Hilari's container was so amazing, that it gave me ideas to do in my large room that I have been struggling with. Mainly with the divider and use of color. AND, Genevieve's comment about Hilari's color use was off. Hilari's use of color was spot on... fresh, flowing and feminine.

I also agree. I do not understand why they didn't pick Hillary. Her designs are stellar, her personality engaging. She could have easily won season seven! I think perhaps the judges have been at this too long, or maybe they have an agenda that we don't recognize.

And what did Leslie bring to the table? Nothing comes to my mind. But I loved Hillary’s tips AND her personality. I really wished she had her own show because I would watch it.

I agree Leslie was at the bottom of the three. That room was horrible! What were they thinking? I would never watch a show that Leslie is featured on. Hillary was by far the best! I would watch her show, because her ideas are great and she has a great eye for design. Leslie on the other hand is not consistent as a designer.

I love the concept of this show, but they need to up the talent and let the viewers judge. And here are the past winners: Meg, Really? Please. She scares me. Shabby Chic Emily, I don’t think so. Antonio…I like his dog and the artists he hires, that’s it. Kim, Myles of Style, ummm, no, I’m not watching. Anyone remember Jennifer? Nope, me either. David is the only one we love, and the only one we watch. We love his personality and his paintings. And, I like David being the host to shows, more so than doing a design show. Now Hilari, I would watch her. Her tips were great. Design Star keeps messing up. How in the heck are they going to increase viewers if they keep picking these duds? Thank goodness Leslie wasn’t playing for her own show!

Unfortunately, this isn't a show that viewers can judge/vote because it isn't... and can't be... live. One thing that was mentioned during season 7 was that we would really like to see more of the judges discussion and rationale when they are choosing a winner and "loser" (I don't like using that term) each week. We are never told why they choose the people they do. If they make these changes, I may continue to watch. It's going to take a while to get over the injustice I feel was done to Hilari ~ not once, but twice! I really feel badly for her! If enough of us voice our opinion, maybe they will offer her a show of her own. However, I wouldn't blame her if she told HGTV to ...... (fill in the blank!)

Hilari rocks, but if she doesn't win DS All-Stars couldn't she still develop her own show in the future?

I do believe that Genevieve aka "Dragon Lady" was the judge pulling for Leslie to win. Their design style is very similar. Personally, I would not let either of them enter my front door.

I was horrified that Leslie won - she should have been in the bottom of those three. Hilari was by far the best, altho I liked Tom's design also.

I cannot believe that Leslie won. She had the worst room of the 3. I just don't understand. I've seen numerous posts calling for HGTV to hire new judges and I have largely ingnored those posts but Hilari was shafted by these out of touch judges not once but twice. She hands down had the freshest most complete room and was the only designer to step out of her comfort zone. She has an ease and is great in front of the camera. Leslie's designs on the other hand bore me to tears.

I just watched David Bromstad's vlog and he agrees that Hilari's room was the best as well. I suspect that that hack of a designer Genevieve was championing generic Leslie. What a shame.

I had thought this show was a set up so they could pick Hilary as a winner for a show since she didn't win the last show where it should have been Hilary or Brittany as the last two.

Then Surprise! It was a set up for Leslie to win? I do not like her style at all. It must be her camera style they liked.

Hilary's style seems more complete.

I was taken aback too. Hilari hit it out of the park especially with the outdoor area. Leslie set up two chairs and a stupid umbrella. Yes, and I agree her space felt clutterd. I feel bad for Hilari. I had decided before hand that I could live with it if they picked Tom, but just couldn't believe it was Leslie. I think Genevieve had too much influence on the decision. Too often I get disappointed by this show. Oh, well.

You know, it’s odd now that I reflect on this. Every week I would be talking to my TV during elimination, vote out Leslie! Vote out Leslie! And I couldn’t believe that she would make it through to another week. I would just shake my head and ask, why on earth is she still in this competition, with NO BELIEF AT ALL that she would EVER win. And then she DOES??? What??? Are you kidding? Hmmm, seems a little fishy now.

I agree with you!! Hilary was the best designer all through the competition! Her last design was sooo much better than Leslie's. Just her deck alone was the best. I'm beginning to wonder just what's going on with these shows. Some new judges are in order! Leslie's designs were not as good as Hilary's and her TV spots were not as good either. I wouldn't watch a show in which she appeared, but I WOULD watch Hilary.

Hi Swedish Pie - I get your point about David being the only true star to emerge from Design Star. I would say that he is the only one who has been given a real chance to develop his skills, because he's had one show after another, with very little down time. All of the other designer stars get 6 weeks of shows (Danielle and Meg) or 13 weeks of shows (Emily and Antonio) and then big gaps of time before they appear again. I know from Emily's blog that HGTV never showed some of her shows from her second season of 13 shows; instead they pre-empted them to show Meg's first six shows. I also know that she filmed another group of 13, which still haven't been broadcast. My point: it's hard to become a star when you are off screen far more that you are on screen. I'd like to see HGTV give its other design stars the same opportunities it gave David - lots of shows, lots of broadcasting of those shows in good timeslots, and lots of publicity as to the day and time of those shows.

Re Design Star Jennifer Bertrand: she was pregnant while she was on Design Star and her son was born with serious and quite rare disabilities, so rare that she was flying from her home in the midwest to New York City for his medical care. She postponed her show; then filmed a few episodes, which HGTV dumped in a mid-day slot with no publicity; and then Jen disappeared to care for her son. When she felt ready, she tried to find another tv gig, but couldn't.

I would love to see Jennifer Bertrand back on tv doing something no one does: designing rooms for people with special needs. I'd love to see attractive wheelchair ramps; kitchen solutions that let a person in a wheelchair cook along with the rest of his/her family; bedroom designs that incorporate and design around the equipment some people need, such as hospital beds, etc. I'm looking for a new home right now for my daughter, who uses a wheelchair. I thought a vintage ranch style house would be perfect because such houses are one story, but I'm shocked at how many vintage ranch houses have step down living rooms and/or dining rooms, or step up living rooms and/or dining rooms. Basically, there are lots of issues that a show like this could address, and I think Jennifer would be great at it.

Very interesting history, sst-a--I knew some of it; but I am fascinated and a little disheartened by how many episodes of design shows are in the can while we're being relentlessly treated to HH and My First Place marathons.

I think your concept, sst-a, for a Jennifer Bertrand show is rock solid! Accessibility and aesthetics need not be mutually exclusive, for sure. With an aging population who has demonstrated interest in good design and home improvement, some kind of universal design show with a strong designer could be a huge success for HGTV.

That is interesting, sst-a, your comments make me wonder that all these recent "Design Star Winners' were not actually Design Star Material to hold their own on a design show. Seems that nearly every year, everyone has been shocked by that season's winner.

It was sad about Jennifer, i hope she and her family are doing well.

After a very busy week, I just caught up with this show. I knew I would come here to find a torrent of outrage about Leslie winning. Add me to the pile. I thought Both Hilari and Tom did a better job than she did.

If you ask me, Genevieve is delusional. Just because she doesn't like a color isn't reason to talk down about it. A lot of people love salmon. She acts so disrespectful and narcissistic that it revolts me. And what is wrong with Vern? Is he letting Gen warp his brain? What a total travesty. I am completely disgusted. They'd better get rid of those two as judges or I'll stop watching the show.

Gen has personal problems with that color. and fixiation on meat and flesh, etc. She needs to see a therapist if she is to continue on as judge.
