Dan & Hilari had the better room (for television) Sign In/Join

In real life I preferred the subdued look of Tom & Leslie's room but man was it boring for on camera. I hated the neon green paint on the paneled wall in Hilari and Dan's room but aside from that I found it to be a much more fun room but that's just me. It was also much more youthful. I have a young nephew and find myself watching television with him a lot and the sitcoms that are geared towards preteens and teenagers have sets that look much more like Hilari's & Dan's.

I liked Dan and Hilari's room bett too. Tom and Leslie's ro0m was boring on camera. Plus Tom's camera challenge was pathetic....again! Leslie is too phony and the skates insult my intelligence. Dan's only "crime" was picking an eye popping color, but he is good on camera and a great designer. He should never have been cut. I would never watch a show featuring Tom or Leslie. I was disappointed to see them on the all-star show and more disappointed to see them move forward!!

I liked both rooms but I do think that Dan & Hilari's looked best on camera. I thought their wallpaper may have been too busy but it did look okay on camera.

I really don't know why Dan wanted that green wall, it just wasn't a good color. I do think that Hilari tried to talk him into changing it, especially after David's comments.

Tom and Leslie's room was nice but not for the challenge. I didn't really feel that they updated the room, really didn't like Tom's accessories. I think it was an adult room not a room for teenagers.

Tom and Leslie's remake didn't fit into what a modern "Facts of Life" show would have been. It seemed to be for older maybe college age students. It was also stuffy and the colors were too bland. I thought for sure Tom was going home since he messed up on his camera challenge.

Carol, I totally agree with you. What is modern and youthful about a set with boring beige monotones and antique accessories scattered everywhere? Tom's delivery on his camera challenge was by far the worst of the group.

The winner of Design All Stars will not be the host of an HGTV show. They will win an appearance on an HGTV show plus a money prize. Tom has an eye for detail and a very sophisticated, classic design style. He doesn't go for the trash for flash style so many designer seem to like. Yes, his personality is a little grating but the longer I watch him I find him more endearing to me. Leslie works it to hard. Picking out extraordinary coffee tables does not make a designer.

Hilari's poufs were cute. I didn't like the color though. Vern's comment about a place to study was off. If it was a remodel of the "Facts of Life" house then there would be no studying done in that room. The girls would have desks in their rooms.

I hated Tom and Leslie's room! It was so boring and neutral and did not look good on camera.Tom is so irritating running around like he has attention deficit disorder and his obsession with brown and ugly accessories is lame. I get it,you like knick knacks and a lived in look.please think of something new.Leslie looked dumb in those skates. She is trying way to hard.

Dan and Hilari's room was much, much better. The lime green wall was ugly and he should have taken David's advice and toned it down.Dan should not have left.It really should have been Tom or Leslie.

David's show, Color Splash, is a show that I seldom watch; most of his colors & designs are a bit too "splashy" for my taste. So it surprised me that he thought Dan & Hilari's room had too much color. Maybe too much contrast with the colors, but the king of color was a little too critical of a fellow designer (just my opinion, of course!)Maybe the new AllStar will be featured on David's show.

They were designing a set that was supposed to look like the living room of a posh boarding school dormitory. I thought Tom and Leslie's room looked very believeable in that regard.

As for Dan -- he was advised to tone down the color and his partner also asked him to tone down the color. He refused. I think it was totally appropriate that he was the one to get sent home.

Tom and Leslie's room would not work on camera because of light color tones.

The Facts of Life House did not look posh when the show was on the air. It looked kinda run down for a supposed expensive boarding school. The update was too address the camera aesthetics and reflect a modern day boarding house. Tom and Leslie designed a space for graduate students not high schoolers.
