I am so disappointed that Danielle won, it's given me a headache. Danielle had a great camera appearance tonight (finally), but her mish-mash style is nothing unique. The homeowners home still looked messy. Hers will be another "Design on a Dime" type show... Simply BORING and cheap "stuff"!
Brittani, hold your head up girl, you have nothing to be ashamed of. Your creativity and design is head and shoulders above some of the current show hosts. There is something Bigger and Better out there for YOU!
I am so disappointed in the judges decision. They all need to retire! Phooey on them!!
Do you know that you just spoiled it for anyone that hasn't seen the show yet? There are people on the West Coast who haven't had a chance to watch. Maybe they have learned from last week not to come here until they see the show.
I seriously doubt West Coast viewers are reading this forum during the last 12 minutes of their own finale viewing, especially knowing it aired 3 hours earlier on the East Coast, 2 hours earlier in Central time, and 1 hour earlier in Mountain time.

If people don't want to know who won, this isn't the best place to hang out tonight.
A few episodes back someone from the West Coast posted about spoilers. She just asked if people would put it in the title of the thread. I know that I don't come here until I've seen the show but not everyone does.
I was just trying to remind people about spoilers, maybe the next time the OP will not put the results in her title.
I so agree...Britany is definitely the better designer. Danielle's space was such a mess...it gave me a headache...not to mention the "cute" voice at times. Maybe HGTV will wise up and give Britany a show too.
Well, personally I liked Danielle's work better than Brittany's all season. And of the two, Brittany's personality was just so ho-hum, cookie cutter blonde (yawn). I think Danielle's is more interesting. My favorite was Hilari anyway. I think she was the one that was robbed, not Brittany!
Britany was not robbed. She & Danielle are both very talented. But Danielle comes across as a bit warmer on camera than Britany. This competition takes design ability and natural appeal in order to successfully draw an audience. Personally, I think Danielle has that appeal. Forget the fan votes - that gauge is a joke. Danielle won fair and square. I'll be watching her show, no doubt about it!
Awe, so bummed that Brittani losted. I loved her, her sense of style and attitude. I agree, Danielle was more comfortable with the camera than Brittani, but during the pilot, Brittani stepped up her game and she was great. Brittani's designs are classy, and chic and she reminds me of Candice Olsen. Danielle does not work well under pressure and her style is more mish-mesh and not as "put together". But regardless, congrats to Danielle. I'm sure Brittani will go far and be successful at whatever she does.

I so agree, Hilari had it all. I didn't think Britany had anything of the homeowners in her rooms, just those two photographs in the dining room. The rooms were beautiful but they looked more like a model home than a real person's home.
Just thought I'd chime in with my own opinion. I thought Brittany was a good stylist. She understood proportion, had a good color sense, and was very aware of current trends. She started reminding me of Candace Olsen in that every room had essentially the same elements. ( and I can't tell you how many times I yelled at the T.V. "c'mon Candace not everyone wants crystal sconces!) So I have to give Danielle the credit she is due. She did work with a quirky client, and believe me, in the real world many clients are half way to Mars. The clients loved what she did, and the judges were aware that she put her personal taste on a back burner to achieve her success. I'm not sure that Brittany would be able to break out of her "Hollywood Regency" comfort zone.

I so agree with you, Charles! It is very difficult to work with a quirky client and still give them everything they want and hide your own sense of style.
Not everyone was going to be happy no matter who they chose, this year. For the first time I believe the contestants were pretty evenly matched in terms of ability to present a good room - however, it does take more than that, and no matter how much I'd have preferred to see Hilari win, I honestly was glad to see that Danielle will have a Shopping Show on. IMO, it would have been too small a niche to fit in a successful show using photographs all the time like Brittany wanted to do.
I'm looking forward to seeing her show, the same way I'd have looked forward to seeing a show by any of the last 4 or 5 contestants.
Although I personally liked the room(s) Britany did better than those Danielle did, I tend to agree that overall Danielle probably was a better choice.
Being married to an artist I can appreciate how that drafting table which was also a light table would be useful. also her cabinet with the spaces for large pieces of papers. In other words Danielle really addressed the specific needs of those homeowners and yet made the spaces seem multi functional.
Britany's space seemed more generic while also more calming. I liked the concept of her show "Picture this" better also than "Shop till you drop"
To me, anyway, it seems that the instinct to be creative with such shopping expeditions is kind of an inborn talent (you know put the sink in the old bureau, turn the wagon wheel into a chandelier etc.)
think of the people you know. It would never occur to some people to do such shopping and if they had such an item it would be because a decorator presented them with the finished item.
I personally think this was the best season as far as the crop of designers they had to compete. Even though Danielle's space was not my style, she was able to deliver what the clients wanted and that's important as a designer.
Also, as an Afican American woman, I believe she won because she was the best, not because of diversity (implying because she was black). This competition could have ended either way because both women were amazing designers.
In my humble opinion, I think the final two should have been Britany and Hilari. I would have been happy either way, no matter which of those two won. But Danielle? Her room looked like an explosion in the Behr Paint Factory, and she says the word "like", over and over, sentence after sentence, in Valley Girl fashion ... drives people over 40 CRAZY!! Whatever happened to Kim Myles? Not sure how to spell her name, but she was a terrific Design Star! Funny, too!!

I loved Britney's desgins, danielle's were too cluttered and all over the place.....I think Britney was the wrong color to win the competition.....JMO.

I liked all of Danielle's work, but did anyone else notice how often she got weepy under stress? I wonder how that will play out in her show. I guess it won't affect we viewers much, but I wouldn't want to be her producer.

I honestly believe it was edited to look that way - the contestants had what, nine weeks of in your face cameras practically 24/7. They were competing for a major, life-altering prize. Altho it seemed they had decent budgets this year, they were given crazy-short time frames to complete the work. It's natural that there were be a few weepy moments, from lack of sleep and added stress if nothing else. In RL we don't have this kind of pressure - sure, if we do a bad job our client may not like the result and it may harm our business reputation, but we don't have to perform with a camera in our faces and have adequate timeframes to complete the project. Even so, there has been a time or two in my career where I ran into something unexpected and would have loved to just sit down and cry.
I totally agree, but I haven't agreed with the judges all season. That winning room looks like throw up. Just throw up all the pictures in the room. It was awful.
This season it seems like the way to get kicked off the show is to design a fabulous room. Five episodes ago they should have fired the judges
Hi "Brit was robbed" - SHE WAS!! I have 'the eye'--I know the 'heck' what I'm looking at. Three weeks later I am still fume-ing about what the 'stn' did. Why in the H didn't they just create a black design star if they needed on. Are they such poor mgrs that they have to falsify contests to meet their EO requirements??What turns me to nausium is having a contest-and picking their 'winner' at the cost of hurting an extremely talented, better young girl. If someone is trying to create equality, they haven't--they've just put a very sour taste in my mouth, and probably many others, about picking a false winner. I hurt for you, Brittany! I want to cancel my HGTV mag subscription--but probably won't because there are way too many, talented good folks like Emily and David B, and the Wed. night guys that I would miss. Their talent star contests are just ugly! They're not helping anyone's cause. Gabby D in London did SO MUCH more for equality than HGTV has done. I'm adding Gabby to my Christmas card list! Our flag gets viewed upside-down in some cases--and this is one--bad, bad boo on your gamesmanship, HGTV. Just so false and so ugly!
The turn of the conversation is disappointing to say the least. First of all just to help some of the challenged posters out Danielle is bi-racial and they showed her White mother's photograph on the show several times (her mother's passing was apparently one of her inspirations for doing the show. RIP Danielle's mom...)
Also I think saying Brittani was robbed is like saying Antonio swept in and won. I thought this was one of the better seasons of overall talent by far. I, actually, would have been fine with either of the two finalists winning. They are both talented and they just have different styles. Everything in life doesn't have to come down to some tired, linear "black/white" (pun intended) thinking. Preferring one person's style doesn't mean the other people suck.
EDIT: Actually now that I read the above post again I don't even know what that is...This message has been edited. Last edited by: TDRock,

I agree with the post above. It's one thing to express disappointment that your favorite designer did not win; it crosses the line, in my opinion, to say Danielle won only because she is black/bi-racial. I've been reading these boards all season but just felt compelled to post because I think that is really unfair.
The talent of this season was phenomenal. Several of those designers could have won. I'd watch several if their shows! We see one hour of footage from hours and hours of tape. Brittany is exceedingly talented and will do well. But Danielle won...not because she is black but because she, like many others, is very very talented and earned it.
Let's just give credit where credit is due. It's one thing to have fun picking apart the show/designs (it is reality tv!). It's another to completely discredit someone's body of work just because they have a different color skin than your preferred designer.
@Flag Day Patriot, your comment is rather disgusting and it appears that you signed up just to spread your hate and ignorance. You say you have "the eye" as I'd that makes you some sort of design authority but everyone, including me does not share your opinion. Perhaps you did not like Danielle's design aesthetic but unlike your precious Brittany she actually gave the clients what they wanted as evidenced by their exuberant reactions. Brittany in the other hand completely disregarded the clients needs by giving them something more traditional rather than contemporary. Brittany is a good designer but at the same time her designs all look similar. She is one note and does not appear to adapt to any of the challenges. Her final design was cold and looked more model home than lived in luxury and please let me not get on her stiff and univiting tv personality. Say what you want about Danielle but she was warm and this is as much a tv competition as it is about design. I've watched Shop This Room and stand by my opinion that the right designer won.
Sorry to pile on @Flag Day Patriot, but a true "flag day patriot" honors everyone as a fellow human being. Hopefully one day soon we all will treat every American citizen with equal dignity and respect. I absolutely love Danielle's new show. She is a wonderful addition to the HGTV programming.
I love Design on A Dime. Hillary was the one robbed. If HGTV wanted true diversity Hillary would have one, and she was the better designer of the two that ended up in the final.
