Since it's clear that the judges/HGTV has their own agenda. So many of the more talented designers keep getting shafted. Dan for example back in his original season and now Hilari not once but twice. Since we're the supposed audience why not trust us to pick who we'd rather watch. Hilari wins every time. Leslie? Seriosuly? She is so uninspired. I can see we Gen liked her.
I couldn't agree more. The judges obviously pick people that won't be competition for them. They are terrified of having new fresher, more talented designers steal their limelight. It's plain as day with their picks for the winner! Nobody i know likes nor would watch leslie&its apparent on this board aswell. They need to let us decide or I'm tuning out!! I'm not going to keep wasting my time!!Hilari would attract many viewers...I guess hgtv doesn't care about ratings!!!Hilari keep your head high up,you were the best&the veiwers' pick!
The Leslie choice doesn't make any since. David Bromstad's Bolg page, here at HGTV, is also brimming over with complaints on the judging too. I hope they get bombarded. That's IF they even read these boards. Something tells me they don't give a r*ts *ss what their viewers think.

Unfortunately, Swedish, I think you're correct--haven't been on much this year. I'd like to pretend HGTV is an inspiratinal staple in my life; it used to be...but...
Look at the maintenance of these boards. That is all you need to know about respect for the viewer on HGTV.
The nonexistent and unresponsive "Abby"? The list of shows (Cash and Cari, Antonio, Sarah, etc.), not seen in ages? (And other currently seen shows with a design focus--Hi-Lo, Great Rooms, etc. --Not listed on the main menu?).
Let's not kid ourselves...

True--but, disclaimer or not, for me, it goes back to respect for the viewer, if they want viewers.
The quality of their product is the attraction of HGTV. They want that translated to rooms and homes (as some posters have said, gardens is not even on the list).
So why should we respect that, when they post a sloppy, unattended, and dated message board?
I'm not a "rocket scientist". Just a person interested in design who's posted for a while and disappointed in the overall quality recently.

I just sent a long email in to HGTV. I told them exactly how I felt about the judging on Design Star and Design Star All Stars. It won't do any good, but it let me vent my frustration.
I may start writing once a week and vent my feelings about the shows or lack of shows on HGTV. There is so much ammunition, I could go on for a long time.

Swedish and mriley--(et al here) --you are good souls. There are so many talented people on these boards with incredibly incisive and SPECIFIC insights--you, TomatoQueen, Charles D, Ms Wildhack, Salviati (not recently, sadly) among others.
I learn so much, as a teacher/director, working with stage designers and just going home and creating my own little space. People like you, and Sarah, Candace, Sabrina, all the others, including the much-maligned Martha Stewart () have a place in my heart as people who put a little more beauty in the world.
So I'm with you, mriley--let's write, and "take back" (the capitalized four letters)

You know mriley, I agree with you and so could most of us here! We should start a new thread starting with your vent and we can all voice what we want and don't want to see on HGTV! And then we'll email links of our threads to the executives. Here’s my take on Design Star:
1. Replace Genevieve Gorder 2. Use proper editing techniques so we can actually follow the comments and decisions of the judges. 3. Allow HGTV viewers to be a part of the selection decision 4. Involve the HGTV viewer on the types of challenges 5. Seek out higher quality designers

Bonactor and Swedishpie. Thank you for your comments. I have written a lot of emails to HGTV over the past couple of years, but I am not really proficient with the computer to be able to do links, etc and really make an impact on the people at HGTV.
I like your list, Swedishpie. That is a wonderful place to start. I would hope that all of us who are dissatisfied with the way things are working...or not working, at the network would get on board and let them know they need to listen to the viewers and make some much needed improvements.

Enough with GG. She keeps saying she just happens to be on tv. Unfortunately, I think that is all her life has become. She is no longer fresh talent. She is snide, and I am so so tired of watching her do the same thing over and over. Come on HGTV. Give us new and fresh. Your loyal viewers deserve it.
Not a big fan of the show but I noticed when they ran promos for it, which they did constantly on every other hgtv program, a certain contestant was pictured. Because of this I figured even for this no brainer it was a no brainer that she would win. Why always show a pic of someone who lost and wouldn't be seen again?
here we are now, entertain us
