Genevieve ruins the show for me please get rid of her.

I just tune her out. I am not sure if TBTB read this message board but I know the producer reads the replies on his blog so you might want to comment there.

What kind of outfit was she wearing season 4?
Please don't tell me that's the new color combo of the fall. ugh.

I have to agree about Genevieve, I don't watch her show either. She seems to have such a superior attitude, like she doesn't think they should consider themselves even slightly capable of design.

Genevieve is a hack. And she does have a superior attitude towards the contestants when she really has no cause to be. I can name a few past and present design contestants who could design rings around her awful shows.

I wish they would bring Candace back.

I feel the same about Vern. I just cannot stand him at all. And I do hate how both of them act toward the contestants especially since I have seen both of them with some epic "fails" on shows they used to be on. Vern did some really horrible work on Trading Spaces.

To each his own. Design is subjective and, obviously, not everyone is going to like the same designers or their styles. Personally, I loved Vern on Trading Spaces and he can design anything he wants to in my house.

You're right - I have seen them both throw a hissy fit over something a contestant has done when they've done the same thing. Vern all but stamped his itty bitty feet and sent a contestant home because she didn't have time to attach a really stunning headboard a few seasons ago. Yet, I've seen him do unfinished work on TP with barely an "oh well" explanation.

I've never liked Genevieve. But she has really become annoying on Design Star. I wish they would replace her.

I can't tolerate Gen. She shows week after week what a hack of a designer she is, it's a joke that she's a judge, unless the criteria for being a judge is having long legs. No wait, it couldn't be, or Vern would be out and Candice would be back in.

At any rate, Gen's a joke that gets less funny with each passing week.

Can't see how Genevieve is any worse than anyone else who has judged. I prefer her over Candice any day of the week, in terms of judging. Candice prejudges contestants on a personal level and she plays favorites. She is not the objective type. However, if Genevieve were to leave, I would love to see Lisa LaPorta in that spot.

I appreciate much of Genevieve's input. Two things that I think were spot on this week were her comments about preferring Hilari's open air to the space in response to Vern saying that he wished Hilari had enclosed the space more.

I agree with Genevieve. She made a good point that the openness was characteristic of the 80s era.

The other thing that she said and that I think more should have mentioned is the excellent placement of objects on Britany's bookcase. That was one of the first things I noticed. Remember how Bex placed the objects on the shelves for the Kardashian guest? That sent her home. Also, I recall how Meg repeatedly missed the mark in this area last season. Her weakness is object placement, especially when accessorizing the walls.

Genevieve is all right with me.

I have never seen objects arranged so perfectly as they were in Britany's lounge. The appearance of her work is completely void of anything even remotely approaching amateurish. This is an exception, as I even think that David Bromstad's designs reflect hints of underdevelopment.

Britany's lounge (and Hilari's also) was one of the best designs I have ever seen on Design Star throughout the seasons.

Yes you ARE allowed your own opinion but I stand by my own as well and IMO Vern is a jerk. I remember one time on Bang for Your Buck when he complained because the owners used the blue tile liner in their swimming pool rather than a rust colored one and I was thinking WHO wants to swim in a pool that looks like it has rusty water in it? He is a nit picker and he has no right to be.Some of his designs on TP was hidious and when they were advertising win this NYC apartment decorated by VY I was shocked at how poorly decorated it was. I think both judges need to be replaced.

I don't mind Genevieve too much, it's Vern and David I can't stand.

I cringe whenever Gen pronounces "accessorize," turning the hard "k" sound of "cc" into "s." I guess HGTV doesn't care ...she's been doing it for YEARS.

I'm so glad that Tanika is gone. She was really superficial all the time.
I really like David. Looks like he gives some solid advice to the contestant. Since he has already been in the competition, he can very well understand what the designers are going through.
I dont mind Genevieve so much. I dont think her designs are breathtaking. Always love Candice Olson's design style. Vern is just nasty. I dont feel like watching his show because I dont like him atall.

She (and Vern, too) can exit any time, any time -

She made a comment this week that was so stupid I can't even believe it. Something to the effect of how the '80s was a "voyeuristic" era so that justified the large spaces between the pvc tubing in Hilari's room. I thought, what pretentious BS! She is really off base and IMO unqualified. Plus her attitude is very cold and off-putting. She makes Vern look good and that's not saying much.

I have been more impressed with commentary by the guest judges than the permanent judges. I would think that they would try to offer a little more Constructive criticism to the contestants rather than just harsh criticism. I do agree with prior postings that think Vern and Genevieve act superior, and I will add, wooden. I don't miss Candace but would love to see more of Sabrina Soto.

I am just an lover of good old french looking decor. You know that Vern and Genevieve push modern all the time, and don't support any contestents who may lean off. I was glad to see the pretty kitchens and I loved the other rather neutral one, cause I like to add in color in many ways. And they would have to have the darn old practical judges guest staring. It was for picture and not a real person, so why not put pictures on the back splash. They are probably just copies of the real thing in your own home anyway. It's wonderful to surround yourself with what you love. I think it was great that it was not about all that fancy tile and glass and all that other stuff.
I didn't care you can't see the chandalier in the kitchen cause of that large mod pattern, though I guess if you want to be practical be practical. Same for fire places. A tad tough to clean but who's practical there.If the design had been smaller and older fashioned they would have heard about that. I think all the kitchens turned out good for the amount of days work.
I loved the color in the bright rooms, but they just got too carried away....
It makes me sad to see some good designers go home because of the filming!

Both Vern and GG are softer probably because they got hammered so badly a couple years ago when they were mean, snotty and obnoxious.

GG still smirks, however, even when she is supposedly smiling - and Vern is still coming off as superior.

I'd love to see them get rid of both Vern and GG and bring in other judges who can be balanced and fair in their judging and comments, as well. Not going to happen, of course, because they have to adhear to the producers script and outcome desires, but it's a nice dream.

Apparently, TPTB feel that Genevieve is a good fit for this show and they will keep her as a regular fixture.

And every year, someone else will come to the message boards and complain about her.

I like consistency, don't you?

I can handle Genevieve, but Vern is such a smarmy phoney I can't stand watching him.

I think there is a list of criticisms and they pick which ones they will say. Maybe they draw straws on the really good ones. They expect the contestants to do a great job on their camera challenges, but I bet Gen and Vern have plenty of notes and prompts. I wonder how many times they have to shoot their part of the show before they get it right.

I get so frustrated when Gen and Vern critize the work of the contestants, but do not give constructive criticism. I don't usually say very much about the judges, but those two are on my last nerve. This is just my opinion.

I agree. David is the only one who gives constructive advice.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Without Candace as a balance, this woman has totally sucked the fun out of this show! I think Vern is great and talented, The guests have been grand. David is fun...but this "aging Diva" has to go...where does anyone get an attitude like that? Glad to see I was not alone. There's no kindness, no nurturing, just insipid attitude. I really hope that HGTV producers and decision-makers are reading these comments. I can hardly look at Genevieve Gorder's face sometimes. She looks thoroughly disgusted most of the time and it just ruins the vibe of the show and the network.

And Gen with her superior smirk - Ugh!

The way both Genevieve and Vern speak is so condescending. I hate watching the judging part because of that. So I only watch it online, and skip through to the end where they say who's leaving.

Genevieve lacks taste. Her own show is a mess. Who in their right mind chose her to host a show is beyond me. She has no real talent. She lacks the ability to design and her sense of scale is bad, really bad. She can’t dress herself yet alone design a room.

Her voice is awful and annoying. Her smug attitude is a joke. Please bring back Candice or better yet bring on Sarah Richardson.
