I am still reading.
I like the idea of a doll house. My idea was for a small model home they contruct and do. Or a play house. I like the idea of a big doll house. That would be fun for them. Also a challenge cause of the size. but they could get very creative. A done room [ maybe the made to sell home furnished to look fabulous.] ascessorize Design their own dream room. Callies ideas....rooms from art movies or novels Model room all the same and the medium is strofoam. This message has been edited. Last edited by: loverofdesign, |

give them fabric and let them work with it. good one.
Or give them a couch and they must not recover it or alter it, but use it in the room. Use fabric Many people want to know if the designers can do several styles, many styles. I for one want to know right away if they will do romantic, cottage, antiques, french, shabby chic, and all the other kind of styles you find in magazines I buy. so if there could only be something that would show if they can or not. use script Downsize adults to small rooms. redo, repurpose what they have purchasse whatever. Turn them loose in an ashliis store or some other furniture store and create model rooms with what is there and other. store window too. Each gets a jail cell to do up. Outdoor prefabricated shed. like that. Bilevel or split ranch that never was redone. habitat for humanity home. They have to do a laundry room somewhere. This message has been edited. My favorite take off.
An elderly couple or single needs to downsize form a large home. they take their favorite things to this new home which is downsized a great deal. And older needs need to met for then and later on with more failing health could set in. Third stage this the final to an assistance living or retirement home room. The two steps of downsizing what the person can still take with them to the last step of downsizing and ideas to transfer their taste and personality to it. We would see the first downsizing. And special needs met for later. Perhaps this could be done in partnership only if the partners are on the same design page. Perhaps we could see design drawings or boards for each stars ideas presented.Possibly just a model scale drawing, crafted, set up as the last stage of downsizing for that same home owner. Such a a little doll house or a large box. craftly done, not just drawn or painted. Perhaps this last part could be a secret kick while they are doing the first downsizing. make sure they are not rich. This message has been edited. Last edited by: loverofdesign, |

Love the walk throu to a ride.
Brings the gardening thing in here. Would like to see that at disney.!!! Sometimes business owners have waiting areas [work on cars ]and for many mothers it is a long time with children. Maybe the designers could design a play space inside as well as some kind of play house outside building with bench for mother. Perhaps some simple outdoor storage structure building done or remade for that reason. KInd of like a little play pod one could order ready to go. But designed by designer. could use tires or car parts, etc. Perhaps a designed auto store main area with waiting room play area ajoining office. counter for business/ computers, coffee serving area. tire or car stuff displayed......... separate from the mechanic shop area. This is one of the greatest ideas I've seen tossed out on ANY show. Of all the time my TV sits on HGTV at home and in the hospital I have seen a total of 1... yes ONE design done for a handicap person! And he was "deserving" because he won Olimpia's in his life time. My husband, daughter (11) and I run olimpics on a daily basis ~smile~ Ok, I guess it just feels that way but it sure would be great to see some designs that do apply to disabled, elderly, handicaped or other wise 'challenged' community who may be elderly but... again, may not be. Amazingly enough, we love our homes to look fabulous too. We do have to downsize often just to afford medication and to keep our children in school. It isn't that we're poor it's often just that we can't put the money into design like we'd like to. Design on a Dime type programs are ok but not a lot of quality and seriously... not really fesable at all that a disabled couple could even do DYI projects as much as we'd love to. Sorry... didn't mean to get off on a rant but it does feel often that this whole community is just left out of the design front. I'd love to see more well thought out ideas. |

I suppose you call it rant, I call it excited with a mission. Or Just being behind your cause.
We the baby boomers are beginning to have our health problems. Some of us in wheel chairs or other handicap devices. walkers etc. Hospital beds, what ever. Very true. And maybe we could see more of this as we learn to change our homes to fit these needs. I actually was thinking of this the other day. After I declutter, which I will have to do. I will have to get rid of rugs etc. Arthritis in my hands and then what body part? What other changes will I need. will I be able to wheel around in the kitchen and accompolish anything. NO. Into the bathroom and safely go into tub. NO. and the other little things, no. And then the sink it would be too high. Good point. I did read a little on it a few years back as my neighbor was attending school to become a counselor. For class project he showed how he redid his house for handicap acessibility. [spelled wrong]I am not sure what class it was. He let public tour it at the same time it was for sale. I bet he aced that one. Some one bought it with no handicapped needs. This couple normally do this, whenever they move. Redo a house. Sell it and move on to the next phase of their life. So he had researched it. Plus he had some kind of occupational injury and so probably learned first hand what it is like to get around in the house handicapped. I am afraid I didn't take notes, but if he did it, he must have found the information somewhere and other designers can do so too. Watching my own family in wheel chairs and walkers and other aides I see too the need. I once worked in a state housing for those who had handicapped needs. It was so plain. It wouldn't have had to have been that ugly! [ true seventies stlye ugly]Thats where I guess the modern guy in this show or the other designers could really show us their "stuff" Design something nice but fuctional and still look update. You found that posting. It did show someone did suggest the open air competition. With Tents. This message has been edited. Last edited by: loverofdesign, |
