Does HGTV have a design team that goes in after the shows are taped to fix the bad designs left by the contestants in people's homes?

On prior seasons, I've heard of them sending in their design team to finish rooms that weren't finished, especially when they renovated two kitchens in groups. Vern would frown at them and let them know they screwed up but HGTV would take care of it. While I realize the panel is there to judge them there are times where I want to ask them if they remember being under a time constraint like these contestants are, Candace was especially harsh, too. I didn't miss her this past year on Design Star although I do like her designing abilities.

I sure hope so! I always feel bad when they get half done rooms or they hate the room. I think the worst show for disappointed home owners that got bad design was Trading Spaces and Gen and Vern were on there!

I hope so too, because some of the things they've done in people's homes are pretty atrocious.

Like Week 2 of All-Stars, with Anna and Jonathon. I hope HGTV went back in and fixed it for them.

I didn't always like what Vern and GG did on TS, and y'all know I've been pretty vocal about my irritation with them on DS - however, IIRC, the worst offenders on TS were Hildy and Doug.

I agree, Doodles. I hated the show where Doug and Hildy designed one project all white and the other all black. One of the homeowners was devastated. That was so uncalled for. I never fel the same about these designers after that.

Yes, I'll never forget that episode. The original room was beautiful already - warm, vibrant and colorful. Then Hildy painted every single thing in the room white w/ white furniture and white wall accessories and destroyed it. The one guy was literally SOBBING on his partner's shoulder. I felt so bad for him I wanted to absolutely smack the snot out of her.

What was wrong with their rooms? I don't think there was anything to fix.

Several seasons ago on Design Star they did not finish a kitchen. I don't remember what but there was somthing unsafe in the kitchen, HGTV fixed that but they did not finish the kitchen. They do not redo rooms if someone doesn't like them. I am sure the participants know that, they probably have to sign a contract.

Do you remember the room that Hildy glued straw onto the walls? She called it "real grass paper". Hildy was the worst designer, she had no respect for other peoples homes. Trading Spaces was a huge hit until they got to full of themselves. I think they let Hildy do what she wanted just for the ratings. That message board would go crazy everytime she did one of her weird rooms.

I do remember homeowners saying if they refused to do what the desingers wanted that they would have to pay the shows production costs.

I liked Trading Spaces when it would be Vern or Gen. TS also make the homeowners sign contracts. Homeowners could actually tell designers what not to touch. Doug is a good designer, but the show liked to do too much handmade knick knack type of items. I would not let Hildie go in my house.

Doug and Hildi were by far the worst designers.I remember when Hildi put sand all over the floor of one house. Gen was pretty bad too and she was always running around barefoot. So tacky!

Anna said she didn't want mirrors, but Leslie put them in anyway. Even the judges said the color in Jonathon's room was bad. And the design on that one wall was just downright weird. I really thought the whole thing was not good. People shouldn't have to be stuck with it from a bunch of wanna-be designers.
