I so agree with everything on that blog! I still can't figure out how Meg won. I watched a few of her shows last year and was not impressed. Some people must like it because they let her make more of them.
I think it is too early to tell if that will happen again. I'm watching Stanley, he should have gone the first week, some thought his mess of a WRC was the best. I hope he does something special this week to justify him still being there.

CL, I'm just concerned that they're going to push him thru the way they did Antonio - who, IMO, I wouldn't hire to design a doghouse for a dog I hated. Hmmm...maybe my MIL.....nah, not her either.
Antonio won just because he painted a duck pink and hung it over a white mantel. Tjat shows a lot of interior know how doesn't it? I have watched a few of his shows and he can do wonderful work if he doesn't go off on something bizarre.

Anyways, I think he won partially because he stood up to the biege paint color everywhere.
In all fairness, though, any other contestant would have been sent home for 1) not playing nice in the sandbox (remember, he "forgot" toget the paint his team had agreed on, and for 2) not giving the client what she had stated she wanted (can't remember exactly what that was about, but it does stick in my mind). I think they were determined from the getgo to push Antonio thru because TPTB wanted "different".
The entire program is a fake. Season one shot at a location on our street. Many things in the show were obviously faked. It is a sham. The Design Star team trashed our neighbor's house, then just left. A moment of suspense when one of the contestants supposedly got ring stuck on her finger was baloney.
Remember how the winner of the competition was going to have their very own 30-minute show? Yes, they had ONE 30-minute show and that was it. No point in watching this program.
The show you refer wasn't in the first seasons. It was later than that. David B. won the first season and Kim Myles won the second. His show is still on and some of the others may noy have had ratings good enough to be retained.
gdholm, I have a feeling you meant to type that "One season was shot ..." instead of "Season one ...". Is that correct?
I remember the supposed ring incident and several times where homes were left with lousy spaces, although usually HGTV said they sent in professionals to correct them. Not exactly sure which year you're referring to and which challenge/house.
Do you mean the season that Jennifer Bertrand won? Did the contestants/HGTV leave the home trashed/messy or merely with ill-advised design choices and/or home alterations?
If you have additional details, I'm sure the mb gang would enjoy hearing about the fake portions of DS. Nobody will be surprised, IMHO.
When did a room not have to be functional? When did project management not count? Boy, just who I would hire, somebody who would hang my sofa from the ceiling and have a cost overrun because project management doesn't count. The show should be renamed Bad Installation Art 101. Where are the REAL designers on this netwoek--Candice please come back.
I have a feeling you guys are right. It looks like they're favoring Stanley right now or else why would they have called him the winner this week? Maybe I'm wrong but most of the good stuff in that room came from Rachel.
gdholm is definitely talking about the series that Jennifer Bertrand won -- that was the first season of DS that I ever saw. I remember the ring incident, though I don't remember who it happened to.
If gdholm looks in again, you might want to know that Jennifer had a baby with serious health issues shortly after winning DS and that's why she never really had a show.
I loved her & live in hope that she gets a chance again when her son's health allows.
