Hello and welcome cynindesign oh no! I am the worse when it comes to "getting around to it" (ok i have gotten better). If I don't hang immediately out of the dryer? My lil bit of laundry will be strewn all over the Dream Home 2013 Namaste Originally registered Feb 2004 -then- gumby took me down Lifetime winner of Jack Thomasson ♥ ♫ Take time to laugh; it is the music of the soul ♫ Life is worth nothing without your dreams and passion.

BL.... Maybe have one of those ol' fashioned lines outside window to pull on to rotate....I thought a counter for folding was missing.....goodness mine gets laid over back of couch right out of dryer til I hang it up on hangers at my leisure....but must do a little jog in this home to get laundry safely out of cooking zone.....and Mr. Bill's gator hide processing zone... and I don't put some things in the dryer and need to hang them to dry.....where would that be?

Well today I went 360-ing the laundry and butler's pantry....first off I would remove those doggie prints and other art from space to better utilize shelves...and add one more shelf above and continue them around corner to wall. Then I think I would put a fold down bar above the utility boxes to hang things on and a foldup drying rack on adjacent wall for smaller things as needed...out of the way when not. Thinking on function over fashion...maybe bitty art on shelf somewhere....but here less is more imho. Now I wonder if it's all open under the curtains below...tour peeps must lift and investigate... This way wonderfully planned! When I watch some friends' young children, I admire how their laundry room is efficiently near their kitchen space. It can make getting "chores" done so much easily. This space looks well planned!

If the paint on the walls is as bright as it looks on my computer I would have to wear sunglasses when I do the laundry but then again if I could afford to keep the house I would be able to afford a maid too... now there's a dream...

I thought about one of those pulley clotheslines, too! But they look a bit tenement-y.

Oh Webnomads....that is a great idea folding on that counter...now that begs the question about is there a door to butlers pantry? Might need to install one to keep our functional work space as such.. SendChocolate...that is a very good dream...wouldn't it be fun to plan a day off each week(chocolate shopping for example), leave to do whatever and have a fantastic cleaning peep do exactly what needs to be done efficiently and be GONE before you return? DREAM BIG!!! Meanwhile my bathrooms are screaming at me to clean them....sigh.... Mine is adjacent to the kitchen and do I ever love it there. No pantry to walk thru/use as foldng station, but hey. I hang the wrinkle prone stuff like shirts from a door knob right away. The rest waits until the post-dinner calm for the Folding/TV party. Trish, I'm with you - loving this floor plan. - J - - - - Pessimists are right more often, but optimists have more fun being wrong!

Hi Green Alice -- I just did a Virtual Tour of the pantry area, and YES there is a door separating it from the kitchen. So we could keep unfolded laundry in there for Virtually Days and no one would be the wiser! I have an old-fashioned front loader, before the days they made them as big as car washes. I could probably swing that closet rod over the washer/dryer idea. In taking that Virtual Tour of the pantry, though, I noticed an unused area (there's a vacuum cleaner sitting there right now). Maybe a good place for a drying rack?

Nice to think due to more pleasant temps that less laundry would be necessary!!! "Nature does not hurry yet everything is accomplished." - Lao Tau "There is more to life than increasing it's speed." - Gandhi <>< Hebrews 13:2

I went back to the pantry's Virtual Tour and clicked on the little video link. It brought up a video of interior designer Brian Patrick Flynn talking about that space underneath the counter in the pantry: "Plus, the area below (pointing to the lower curtains in the pantry) can be used for a bunch of shelving to hide the things you never want to see, like trash bags and pails or cleaning supplies. By the time a pleated skirt is put on, you'll never even know it was there." In other words, it sounds like there is nothing underneath that counter, and it's up to the homeowner to do whatever they like with that space. As far as needing to do less laundry... having lived near the beach for a few years, I remember washing lots of shorts, T-shirts, tank tops, cover-ups... and beach towels! Now we need to find a good place to hang wet swimsuits!

That's great...I like to stock up on paper towels(recycled) and have bins of microfiber type clothes....tp should be stored elsewhere...that gets mind working on storage period....where to put seasonal decor....definately NOT in garage!!! Humidity would ruin most thingys. Now I have another video to watch WAHOO!!! Wet swim suits? Maybe more hooks or rack in lower level shower area would be good semi drying off spot! Isn't it fun to think on the actual living there....must go enter now before I forget today!!!
