No salt water alligators, to my knowledge. There are salt water crocks--and they kick butt, mean mothers--but they are not indigenous to that area. Besides, I don't have a dog or small children so you don't have to worry for us.

Dreamer, I believe we have already established that there are alligators on Kiawah Island. Whether they are fresh water, salt water, or brackish water, I don't know. But they're there!

Mickeyww evem posted some pics of them. See the thread, "Pictures of Kiawah Island."

Some pretty good size ones posted in the pictures. The water, the trees, the wild life, are really fantastic and beautiful!

Well Kitty, ya prolly won't be stomping thru' the marsh 'cause the big-*** skeeters will keep you indoors Smile

I'll bet Mr. Bill is hard at work inventing a trap that flings spicy andouille & skeeter filled sausages so the gators are stuffed and just lay about napping Smile

Lol! Love the sign and t-shirt for the dog Teal. Hope the gators can read! Still wonder if one can install a fence.

It really is a unique home. It will be interesting to see what the lucky winner will do,keep it or,like most of the winners, take the cash. I would love to be able to live in such a lovely place for awhile.

We have gators here in Orlando and they are not a problem. We stay out of their water and mostly they stay out of our way. Occasionally they go wandering across the golf course or will come out to sun themselves on the wrong side of the waterfront (and if there is a large body of water, most likely there are gators, but mostly, we rarely cross each others path.

However, if you have an inquisitive small dog, I would keep them leashed and away from the water when you are walking near a waterfront. Just in case...

It's been established that there are "gators" on the island, but I bet you there are none around my new house because they will not live in the salt water marshes.

Check out the thread with the pictures from Kiaawah, definitely looks like gators there in those salty marches.

Gators or not, this is one mighty fantastic home and I am dreaming of enjoying the views from my back deck.
