I will gladly deal with this problem when I win the property, but if you have a home in the deep south built on marsh land, wouldn't you have millions of blood hungry mosquitos looking for a good meal every summer day? What could be a solution, .22 rifles? Or do you think that would be enough power to take one of those monsters down?

After I win, will you sell Hoppy--cheap, of course, because I will have a lot of expenses.

We have a friend who has a home on Kiawah and mosquitos have never been a problem.

There are a lot of alligators and snakes. You see gators everywhere, especially sunning themselves on the golf course.

There is a rule that you are not allowed to feed the gators. They want to prevent them from becoming too comfortable with people and then approaching people expecting to be fed.

It's an incredibly beautiful, serene place to live. There are all sorts of CEO's, sports figures and other well known names who have homes on the island.

LOL, there are many, many beautiful homes on Kiawah, an incredible hotel and an incredible golf course.

The residents say there has never been a problem with the gators..... Gators and residents share the beautiful island with a respect for each other.

Very light breezes often bring mosquitos into areas as far from the beaches/reef islands as the distance the DH is situated. (They don't pay taxes so aren't obligated to observe rules of respect !!!)
No-seeums (they have their seasons) are a problem in that they aren't dealt with using sprays/granulated poisons.
The gators have a different situation based on respect: Since the beginning of our great nation, they all agreed on
the Constitutional Republic covenant we all enjoy! (Dogs, cats and kids are not included, though).
Where are the indigenous South Carolinans when it comes to subjects like this, here on MB?

My wife and have been visiting the island since 1982( had chance to buy a ocean lot for $100,000 but didn't have the money and one sold in Jan for $10,950,000) finally bought a small villa in 2004, visit 5-6 times a year and have yet to see a mosquito. The tidal in and out keep the marsh water moving. Mosquitos wants stagnant water. Also an earlier blog reply mentioned that the ocean breeze tends to keep them away which is correct.

One of the best natural solutions instead of spraying the entire area is Dragon Flies the mosquito's enemy and bats yes indeed bats .

The gator/snake abundance isn't my fav and I'm sure glad mosquitos are blown away but the chance to win this super home (I'm blocking out the tax thing)is a dream for sure. I bought a $150 Special Olympics raffle ticket for their 7500 sq ft dream home right here in So.CALI and that home, altho the location is more practical for me..doesn't feel homey and call'n my name like the HGTV one does. Good Luck Neighbor Nurse Judy on this HGTV Dream Home and to all my fellow Dreamers too.

Thank you neighbor, enjoyed many years of my life in Belmont Shore and Naples. You will have to let us know how you fare in the raffle.

This dreamhome is very inviting.
