So I notice no upper cabinets where I usually place my dishes and glasses for daily serving. I know I can use those by the table and that's good to me for the extra special ones but I can't see self walking over there from dishwasher placing in cupboard only to walk back at meal time to bring to counter for serving up meals. I usually place on plate in kitchen....guess I could switch out to serve yourself at table. That OR Keep daily stuff on exposed shelf next to fridge for easy access? How do you see that working out for your family? "Nature does not hurry yet everything is accomplished." - Lao Tau "There is more to life than increasing it's speed." - Gandhi <>< Hebrews 13:2

I never understand why so many decorator kitchens can be so impractical. I prefer closed cabinets, not glass ones. It's also smart to consider the work pattern of the room so dishes and utensils are handy to where they're most often used. ~♥♥~ Flapjaw "Embrace each moment... Live every dream."

I prefer closed cabinets as well, but this is one beautiful kitchen. *****Catch the Excitement***** ******Dreams and happiness to all my MB friends****** ~ ~ ♥ ~ ~♥ ~ ~♥~~♥~~♥ a flapjaw and a Sheltie collector avatar fan Real Friends Believe in Your Dreams

Well Mere I guess it would have worked better if they put a dishwasher over there by the dining table... "Nature does not hurry yet everything is accomplished." - Lao Tau "There is more to life than increasing it's speed." - Gandhi <>< Hebrews 13:2

GA - we serve on the counter next to the stove, too... Can't tell from the photos, but I presume the DW is lurking behind one of the cabinet doors next to the sink in the island. Hope it's on the left (as you are facing DR) Might not be too onerous to carry our everyday Food Network whites from island to DR cabinet. Need a spy on the tours (there *will* be tours, no??) - - - - Pessimists are right more often, but optimists have more fun being wrong!

The diswasher is in the Island near the sink. It looks like a nice one. I think having the butlers pantry helps with the cabinet situation. I know I'd love to live there. *****Catch the Excitement***** ******Dreams and happiness to all my MB friends****** ~ ~ ♥ ~ ~♥ ~ ~♥~~♥~~♥ a flapjaw and a Sheltie collector avatar fan Real Friends Believe in Your Dreams

JSB we could always train the other members of our household to do the dirty work of towing things back and forth...that is if gator thing doesn't pan out... Afterall those darn dishes are a multiple time daily ritual....not that I would blink at having to transport outside to deck on occasion, that's something I have to do here...but 75% of the time in good weather it's still in the kitchen arena. Isn't that why we have kids? - - - - Pessimists are right more often, but optimists have more fun being wrong!

Yes but don't tell them that.... "Nature does not hurry yet everything is accomplished." - Lao Tau "There is more to life than increasing it's speed." - Gandhi <>< Hebrews 13:2

but my kids are grown (and hopefully gone....most of the time)! LOL I love the 2 windows for all the light but it sure takes away from storage space. Maybe the same cabinet company could take out the open shelves to the left of the fridge and put a closed in one there for dishes. After all, they give you money to pay the taxes and make some changes...right? Ha! Ha!

Am thinking that the shelves would be a great place to keep mason jars, etc, filled with pasta and other staples. Get them off the counter but be close at hand and still decorative. Still think that it wouldn't be too bad going from island to DR cabinets - just a pivot & a few steps. Aw, he*k. We're at the beach. Paper all the way... (ouch, did little of 'green' me just say that???) - - - - Pessimists are right more often, but optimists have more fun being wrong!
