I love the green used downstairs.....
It seems very bright and cheerful, but warm also. How does that work with green? Anyway, I rent right now I can't paint anything that color, but I can DREAM.

It is fun to Dream Wink Whenever I see a new Dream Home I go through in my head and decide who gets which bedrooms & what I would change, etc.

Mr.Bill
I like to scrutinize each outdoor photo with my magnifying glass and count all the ants per square foot. It gives me a true picture of how enviornmental friendly the Dream Homes really are.

Does everyone do this or is it just me?

Mr.Bill, I think it might be just you. And we are so very thankful you are taking care of this for us all. Will you report your findings?

Back to the topic: As usual, the decor of the house is way overdone for my taste. The colors are mostly nice, and the architecture is lovely, but there's just too much stuff.

I understand that people like to see interesting kick-knacks, but putting those ginormous seashell vases of grasses on the kitchen counter was way too much. Why on earth did LW think that was appealing? There are other places that huge vases of grass could be put (outside on the deck, or, even better, in a yard sale), but taking up counter space in the kitchen with something that doesn't even look clean, much less attractive, is just too silly.

A kitchen simply must be functional, and there are so many decorative kitchen items that also have some function. Unless those grasses have some serious cooking chops, get them out of the kitchen!

(just my humble opinion; those of you who enjoy the company of giant vases of grass while you're cooking, just carry on.)

I too really liked the green. I am not much on blue walls...so much so that when we purchased our two-year old home the first thing I did was repaint the blue master bedroom and bath. However, I found most of the blue acceptable except the slap you in your face laundry room. Whoa! However the blue in the upstairs loft was very nice. The twin bed room - just so-so.

Yes - there needs to be a yard sale to take care of the many knick-knacks. Do you think they could've used "Zen" a few more times in the descriptions?

Where are the made in the USA products?

I might not use the grass in vases in the kitchen but in general I love using natural items for decor so I would just move them some place else. (Remember this is for staging purposes not for actually living.)

Any home would need some editing to suit the individuals living there but in all this is a pleasant retreat and not overly huge which is refreshing. The colors even seem appropriate for the area. (This is one of my favorite parts of the country (and in general I am a mountain person.)

I had a dream last night that I won the house and the first time I cooked something one of those monster plants next to the stove went up in flames.

Note to self... if I win this house remove plants before cooking..

Thanks, I didn't realize the picture was so big! Now the one I chose seems to be super small. Better to have none. Kitchens should be functional first. Nothing on the counter that is not functional. My one pet peeve about Kitchens is that the stove should be on the same plane or counter as the sink so when you are draining hot pastas, etc. you don't have to cross a walkway. Same goes for stoves or sinks on the "island". Too much disturbance. Doesn't matter.... if I win I will have a lovely vacation in SC, then come on back home. Can I take the vacuums and floor cleaners with me?

I love the kitchen and as mentioned the seashell plants are for staging. I like them, but would put them in the family room near the doors going out to the deck. They would look perfect there. In the meantime Linda has them drawing our attention to the beautiful quartz countertops. The use of white is refreshing and clean and I love that gas stove.

How many ovens are there, I am hoping for two?

The best appliance in the kitchen is the telephone, for delivery! Ha-ha... But hubby wouldn't put up with that, he would have to cook. I love his cooking but the clean up is not fun! I know, I am very lucky. But, ...

I agree gossamer, that it is way over done as usual. I do like the colors, and the furniture, but she needs to learn to edit. but who cares. when i win, i will have all those extra things to use as gifts for people

In my dreams, I've already changed some colors, because I can only stand a "touch" of green in an accent (if I have to) and yes, love some of the decorating items in other places. That's the way things are placed for a "vacation" home but I can't wait to MOVE to my dream home and make it livable!
