Does anyone know how far the DreamHome is from the Atlantic Ocean / sandy beach??? Could you walk or ride a bike there? And does anyone know which lot the DreamHome was built on, and where it is exactly to the other lots in the Indigo Neighborhood??? I have been researching this for weeks - would also love to know the address.....anyone???

I think it's about a mile across the island to the beach. There is a marsh side and beach side. My DH is located on the marsh side. I, too, would like to know the address and/or lot number. If you think you can, you can--unless you can't!

Indigo Park is marked on this map of Kiawah Island: http://www.kiawahisland.com/real-estate/featured/ If you click on the Indigo Park tab, you can download a PDF file of the Indigo Park sitemap, which shows the 16 homesites in this neighborhood. I'm not sure which one is for the HGTV Dream Home. If you find out, let me know!

Judging by looking at the 360 tour and considering views, existing neighbors, road curvature, driveway orientation, etc., my best guess is that it is on lot #119. If you use the link to Indigo Park on the main HGTV Dream Home page, you can find the image of the site map showing that #123 is already built, and I think that is the home you can see on the 360 through the trees. Still unable to find an actual address, though.

I watched a video on that site. Looks like a very beautiful place but it says they have mountain lions.. OH MY!!!

No...no lions....lots of cougars. Even scarier!

Aren't mountain lions and cougars the same kitty?

Let me see if I have this right, house is built on swamp land. There are gators, mountain lions, mosquitos, and hurricanes. THIS is a dream home?

On the better side there are dolphin, deer, butterflies and lots of birds… Kinda like living in the middle of your own nature program...

Now I love Dolphin, butterflies, and birds, I have pictured myself enjoying them from the deck and in the yard many times. How great to live in your own nature program. *****Catch the Excitement***** ******Dreams and happiness to all my MB friends****** ~ ~ ♥ ~ ~♥ ~ ~♥~~♥~~♥ a flapjaw and a Sheltie collector avatar fan Real Friends Believe in Your Dreams

Lake bound I see you live in LV which is a desert, has rattle snakes, sand storms, and some of the worst "human" vermin. Kiawah has gators, bobcats (not mt. Lion or cougar), logger head turtles, many beautiful "human" bathing beauties during the summer, dolpins, eagles, deer, egret, piping plover, brown pelicans, painted bunting, the whole island is a nature preserve and pristine 20 mile beach and finally, Charleston is only 30 minutes away. The life style is so relaxing and peaceful, my wife "makes" me take her there 5-6 times a year Mickeyww

Well Mickey, I'm not saying Las Vegas is better than South Carolina. HOWEVER, I have never seen a rattlesnake or been in a sand storm and for human vermin, I don't know if I have seen any. Have you ever been to Las Vegas? It's not as bad as you make it. We have a beautiful lake, we have snow skiing, we have great weather 9 months out of the year, we have hiking and great restaurants and shopping..... I used to ride my ATV out in the desert and before you know it, wild horses would be running all around me. Vegas is not as bad as you make it.
|
I think that was the point of Mickey's reply.

Thank you both for your reply. I have been to LV several times and all I've seen is the strip and the mass amount of people. I have never experienced the lake and enviroment described.I'm an old country boy and like the great outdoors and did not intend to be critical anyone's state. I just want the Dreamers to know that not only is this a "dream home" but it is also in a "dream location" and whomever wins this home should seriously consider moving in instead of taking the money and running. I know there has been a lot of blogs about the taxes, etc, and they will need to take that into consideration but if they have a choice I vote for the life style Kiawah offers.

One of my daughters lives in LV and she dirt bikes in the desert, hikes in the beautiful mountains, enjoys her friends and family and has to have pest control come and spray the yard and house due to the many insect variety of varmits who live there. Unfortunately unemployment is very high there and real estate is extremly upside down. She owns a neat home, corner lot, well landscaped, and worth 1/4 of what she paid for it which means like others who pay their bills is stuck. So like Many places, it has it's beauty and issues. Whereever we are, one must enjoy the beauty of where you are. I love California, it is beautiful, but like Vinnie, the Dreamhome is very invitng to me. Keep dreamingThis message has been edited. EVERY state has it's ups and downs. I don't believe there is that "perfect" location, That's why I have two homes, A winter home in Vegas and a summer home on the Puget Sound. Works out well. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Lakebound,

You are so right lakebound which is why I mentioned the neat things as well. The enconomy has hit hard in LV. Puget sound is so beautiful, one of my favorite places and you are so blessed to have a home in both places. Actually got married on Orcus Island. My DH has wished many times HGTV would build a dreamhome in that area. *****Catch the Excitement***** ******Dreams and happiness to all my MB friends****** ~ ~ ♥ ~ ~♥ ~ ~♥~~♥~~♥ a flapjaw and a Sheltie collector avatar fan Real Friends Believe in Your Dreams

I do feel blessed to be able to have the home in Washington. It's in Kingston. Cute little town on the water. Ferry comes right in there. It's beautiful and I enjoy my time up there, however, I don't think I would like living there on a full time basis.....so, it's nice to be able to have two homes, as NO state I know of is perfect. As for our economy in Vegas, it's doing better, I think there are far worse cities hit harder than us. Vegas is Vegas, it will always be ok.

It is nice to have two climates and scenery to choose from. You are very fortunate. Read an article the other day, Nevada is 5th of 10 in underwater housing. It seems eventually it has to get better, but people will always be coming to Vegas as you mentioned. *****Catch the Excitement***** ******Dreams and happiness to all my MB friends****** ~ ~ ♥ ~ ~♥ ~ ~♥~~♥~~♥ a flapjaw and a Sheltie collector avatar fan Real Friends Believe in Your Dreams

I think houses have gone back to realistic prices. It doesn't really matter unless you are selling your home, because you have to. If you just sit tight, things will even out eventually. As I go for my morning stroll through the neighborhood, the for sale signs are fewer and far between. I take that as a good sign.
