I think a $20.00 gold piece or two should do it.

I know a good real estate firm onKiawah that has a lot of houses, villas, and condos available for rent. The price is highly dependent on time of year. Click out her web page

Mickeyww, thanks!
Looks like comp properties are renting between $1400.00 and $3800.00 and the few I looked into, are heavily rented. Could only find a few open dates. So it you could rent 30 weeks a year at 2200.00 average, 66,000.00 off your personal expenses...and give ya 22 weeks of enjoying your DH.

Those figures look very nice Vinnie if the winner choses to use it as a vacation home. HGTV was thinking of everything this year. Big Grin

I think the Stowe house (2011) would have been the perfect vacation rental. With the bunk beds the house slept at least 12. Hideaways and air mattresses could get you to 20 pretty fast. Similar properties in the area rent for $2,000 - $10,000 per week. I don't know what you do at Stowe when you're not skiing but maybe the ski and holiday season could have paid expenses and left enough for a plane ticket to Vermont a couple times a year. I think the Stowe house would have had the best chances to pay for its upkeep and taxes that I have seen.

This year is also a tourist attraction. Much like Hilton Head just south of Kiawah, is a golfers Mecca. I know several different groups of men that head down every year to Hilton Head to golf for a week in the winter time. With five golf courses, Kiawah has that attraction too. And Kiawah is a family summer vacation spot, with the prices spiking in June through Aug. (the hottest most humid time of the year).

I too hope the winner can handle the costs.

I would have a really hard time renting out the DH as a vacation rental. I have a number of vacation rentals now and people are really hard on the houses, especially groups of golf guys and families. This are missing, broken and damaged constantly and there are so many nice things in the DH...

That would be my concern as well Silly4houses. People just do not take care of things that belong to others.Renters can be rough on a house.

Last summer the Ocean course was home of the PGA Championship and generated a lot of publicity for the island. I get a monthly newsletter showing the real estate sales each month and there was a large rise in the over 2 million homes after the championship. I would think that the winner would be able to sell this house fairly quickly if they don't try to get too greedy. There are several famous people that own homes and last year one sold for 14 million. So to sell one for 2 million should be easy.

Good information for a winner who plans to sell.
