17 years and still no king size bed in a master? |

Am I the only one who has the same "complaint" every year? Part of luxury is a king size bed in a master suite. Every year I ask the same question. I'm not buying it as a "design don't" as it makes the room look small. Check into any luxury hotel and you will find a king bed. For that matter, even in a SMALL room, a king bed will fit and look beautiful. I have one in a 9x12 room and it's wonderful. It's about luxury AND comfort. Please HGTV - you supersize other things in the dream home - plus give away a big ole SUV in the process. Can't we PLEASE have a king size bed? Maybe next year?

FIRST change!.....love my king sized bed
|
Ditto, have had a king bed our entire marriage.
|
Whew! Glad I'm not the only one! First change for me too Music. And mythreesons.....if your family is like mine, we had to have a king bed as our boys liked to climb in too when they were toddlers! There would be NO SLEEP with a kid sleeping sideways without a king bed!

yes, my chldren right up to school age and now my furbabies. (6 lb Maltese, 5 lb. Yorkie and an old (15 yr) Bichon who is a pillow princess) A king sized bed is necessary for an "entire" family!! LOL

They probably figure since no King has ever entered the Dream House contest, at least so far, they don't need a king size bed. Makes sense to me. {Proud Member of the Flapjaw Club} ~♥~ ~♥~

Does that mean that only a Royal Queen will be able to win? I say put in a king size bed, and let the queen sleep there! ~♥♥~ Flapjaw "Embrace each moment... Live every dream."

every frickin year i have complained about a lack of a king bed in the master. to me, a master is not really up to par without one.besides, my DH is 6'4 tall and he cannot sleep on queen beds. I really do not understand her strange obsession with queen beds, and why no one on her staff has not pointed this out to her. as you said, a luxury suit in a hotel always has a king bed

See Monica went on about having so much space you didn't need a bitty night stand you could put furniture chest and desk....but take those out and a king would certainly fit nicely I think in that space...and picking up bitty night stands no problem!! I was thinking some years they did not even have a queen bed in mb...didn't they do a full some years?!?! king beds are nice, but don't make much difference for my husband and me. anyway i prefer the household simplicity of all queen beds in our house--i only buy queen size linens, comforters, etc and can mix and match across rooms as it suits me!

King beds are not a luxury anymore, they are a necessity! I notice this every year too... it's odd. ~~~~Dream On!!!!~~~~

I'm thinking the master could be rearranged to accommodate a king sized bed....I could be wrong. I also wonder why these DHs never have a king bed as well. ***shrug*** It's a wicked beautiful home none the less.
|
I would prefer a king bed, but they do look big. Visually, a queen just looks better / less obtrusive, even when there's room for a king. It's like all those magazines that would never show a picture of a toilet. It's not that houses didn't have them, or that people didn't want them - the designers just thought that they didn't look nice.
|
I was looking again yesterday and there is room on the sides for the extra few inches width that a king would require and I'm sure the same manufacture that made that beautiful bed also makes the same style in a king. Not to be nit picky but I would have never put carpet in the master bedroom with all the hardwood in the whole downstairs. Just continue the hardwood throughout the rug in the master is beautiful, that's all that is needed in there.

Not to be a wet blanket but here few possible reasons: - more bed = less room for lovely furniture - more bed = more crowded & less lovely images These homes are not designed for owner comfort, etc, but for, ummm, 'curb' appeal. Pretty pictures, get viewers all excited about home, they enter frequently -> more traffic on website gets more **$ from sponsors and shows cable companies what a big draw HGTV is. why do you think a King bed is a nessecity
|
I think a king size bed will fit in the master bedroom. It appears the Dream Home is a customized version of Indigo Park's Camellia model. If you go to the developers website (Dyal Compass), they have pictures of the model home for the Camellia. The website below will take you to some thumbnail pics. Click on the second from the right in the top row (Image 5 of 29). That definitely looks like a king size bed, because of the split box spring. The orientation is the reverse of the Dream Home master suite. Evidently, the floor plan was flipped for the Dream Home because of the way it's located on the lot. http://www.dyalcompass.com/pro...php?id=Indigo%20Park

edith ann(by the way love the name, brings back memories of edith ann sitting in her big rocking chair ) a king bed is a necesity for many people. my husband is 6 foot 4, and he would have a hard time on a queen. also, in any hotel, a king is considered the ultimate, the highest price. it is the standard in most master bedrooms these days
