I personally like it better when they notify the Dream Home winner live, but I understand the reasoning for taping ahead of time.

I wonder how they keep it quiet. If they told the winner almost a week ago how can they ensure no one will leak the information. If they ambush at work or home there are witnesses. And in this day in age everyone has a cell phone to take photos or tape what is happening!

I wonder also how they keep it quiet! How can you keep it a secret if the neighbors see what is going on....humm...

Usually they do. One year a neighbor spilled the beans, so I think they are being careful.

Prolly sign a contract stating they giveup prize plus risk being sued hundreds of thousands of ** if they leak the news.
I know first hand someone that won a house from another TV network back in 2003 who had to sign papers like that. She says it was difficult to keep secret but just as hard to leak it for fear of being being sued.

personally I hope they have decided to ambush the winner live or even just the day before the reveal. it provides more hope that way.
