Holly in South JerseyA different way to make a ruffled scarf
I was looking at directions on youtube for the scarfs, and I found "no crochet sashay scarf" by somebody named plastic canvas crafter (I think. it was plastic canvas something)
Super easy! I watched the video about 5 times, then played with it and ripped it out a few times, then really got the hang of it.

silly birdI love that yarn . Would you please post a link to the youtube video? I've found making the scarves knitting and crocheting and also just chaining it with out opening it for ruffles. Would love to see another way. Thanks.

Crafts by CheriI recently made a scarf from this thread and I used a carrier thread in a similar color. It worked up so much easier I thought.

Will Quilt for ChocolateHolly - this is Jill from the quilting board. I have never done anything like this, but I made a scarf!
I have a question for you about the holes. I used the little square holes that were between the big holes as my squares. Is that right? Or, did she use the big holes?

jackyHi Jill!!not Holly but She did use the bigger hole at the very top,She also skipped the first one and went into second. I think you can use whatever hole works for you and your scarf looks great.I do some of mine a little shorter so I can wear straight without the tie or wrap.Love your color.Aren't they easy and fun!!

Holly in South JerseyLike Jacky said! Your scarf looks great! I've got everyone at work making them, and my niece is making them, and not she's teaching herself to crochet from youtube.

Will Quilt for ChocolateThanks Jacky and Holly! I can see where these would go faster using the bigger hole! It wasn't until the end before I figured that out!
I need to get more of this yarn because I think my mom wants to teach me the other way to do it. But, now that I know this way, I'm not sure why I would change?!!

BrandyquilterYou guys have sucked me in to this idea! I was watching the video and my 10 yr old DD looks over my shoulder and says "So, what, you are going to start knitting now too?" LOL! Yup! I just bought a skein and plan to try it tonight! Thanks for the idea, these scarfs are so pretty!

BunnybcbI'm usually on the quilting board, but I just want to say I've been seeing that everyone is making these scarves, so I watched the video and saw how easy it looked. I went out and bought me one skein of the Sashay yarn and it made up so pretty and quick. I went Wed. and tried to find more, but no one had any yarn. I went back yesterday (Sat) and still only found 3 skeins of one color, so I bought 2. Then I bought 2 skeins of Starbella. The Starbella has bigger holes, so I don't know how it will look making them. Evidently, someone in my area is buying up all the Sashay as soon as they find it.

Holly in South JerseyBunny, that's happening here also, both with sashay and starbella.
When I made a scarf with starbella, I went in every hole, and ended up with a longer scarf so I draped it differently.
Welcome to our addiction!
