This is a cute way to make one. Looks like it could be adapted for crochet.

Evelyn, thank you so much for posting the pattern.
I have loved muffs for decades and have sewn
2 from fabric but really want one
that is knit. your pattern is great and will
be #1 on my list to do soon.

Have mine about 2/3 done. I made it with
'rag wool" type yarn for MC in one color with another wool for the ribbed part.
Not really happy with the effect, should have
used leftover colorful yarn.
Oh well, may make another one.
