This is from another lady, and I have been trying to help her find this pattern, do any of you have a clue here? I have written to many sellers on ebay, looking for the magazines, was sure I probably had this at one time, but have let these mags go over the years, if anyone can help, sure would be great, I love the search for patterns, but am downright crosseyed right now, been looking for months for this, and worm out. thanks for looking.

I have been looking for an old pattern for years,it was from a book I believe 1978-1983 not sure. The book it's self is a craft book not solely for crochet,it is a Fall edition, the pattern was of "Crocheted Chicken Breadbasket" it is of a chicken that fits over a basket or bowl,it's wings lift up and there is a hole crocheted in to you can get to the goodies inside. The tail feathers are done in acolorful ripple crochet,I have see many patterns over the years but none are of the one I had made years ago. I believe the book was a Womans Circle,or Womans HouseHold, all I can remember it was a Fall book, there was a sewn turkey on the opposite page of the crochetd Chicken bread basket. The pictures were in color.I made many of these breadbaskets to give holiday homemade cookies in and the people loved them, but I had lent the book out and never got it back, can some one out there help me find this very old pattern. It was done in 4ply yarn.I don't know for sure the book I do remember the pictures were in color and the pages were shiny not the dull pages .Sure would love to find this pattern before I die,It's on my bucket list ,LOL

In other words ladies, don't loan out your patterns, keep the original, and send out the copy!

As I am actually searching for another lady, and do not have any more from her than what I sent in for a description, I do not feel that it was a Workbasket, they were not known for something like this. BUT, that said, I will surely check the groups that have WB among them.
I do appreciate your effort, I probably had this at one time, and have since let it go, due to stash storage problems.
I do so appreciate your helping a complete stranger in this matter, and am sure you will reap rewards from this act of kindness.

Have a great day!!!!!

This is the latest from the lady seeking this particular pattern, don't know if there is any more info to be gleaned or not, but always hopeful. Many thanks to anyone who can help out, have tried many places, always a dead end.

I would use the pattern for mostly Christmas gifts as I would put homemade cookies inside a basket and give as a gift. It was a pleasent gift to give and recieve. well now never thought of the Omni book as being a possibility?? It was a craft magazine not just crochet right? As I know the book was not a just crochet book because of the sewn turkey on the opposite page and I know that was on the opposite page from the Chicken bread basket pattern.and both pictures were in color. The turkey had a kind of fabric vest on it too,but the turkey it's self was sewn from fabric.it was a turkey pillow.the pages were shiny not dull like some books like the womans Circle. But difinately was a Fall book, and the date was just 1978 or 1983. or inbetween these dateslets say not before 1978 and not after 1983,as I remember my son being about 4 or 5 when I was making these for Christmas gifts, and he was born 1974.Wow I can see the darn picture of the pattern in my head,LOLwith the colorful tail feathers done in a ripple crochet pattern,LOLnot individual tail feathers but done all in one piece in a ripple pattern.the basket was shown in a large picture on the page with rolls sitting along side the chicken it was used as a basket for rolls and the wings lifted uo on each side so the rolls were taken from the chicken through the openings under the wings.I used it for homemade cookies at Christime, for gift giving. And yes I now never lend out my pattern books I learned from lending out that one book and I'm still paying for it all these years later,LOLBut the Omni Book is a good idea.Because I use to buy that book too.I bought the book in a store as I didn't have a subscription to any books back then I just bout the books from the grocery stores when I bought groceries each week I would look for new books. So what I do know is it came out only 4 times a year, and this was the Fall book. That is all I can remember right now,

Have a great day!!!!!

thank you dear lady, someone else sent me this as well, but the tail isn't right according to the lady, the tail is ripple pattern like the afghans? So, that said, am off to keep searching, if I don't come up with something soon, will write it off to wrong magazine, or whatever, and forget about it, not the end of the world. But thanks for helping a stranger!!!!!!!!

Have a great day!!!!!
