Can anyone tell me anything about this plate? We've had it and a coordinating one for several years. We obtained them from a relative's estate. We have never had them on display at all, just tucked away in a cabinet. On the back is a "shield" that says Schumann Bavaria, Schumann Prozellan Kunstabteilung, E. Baumann, and some numbers. I have no idea if they are of any value at all or just should be put in a yard sale. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am sorry that I can not give you any information about your plate, but would suggest a couple of things that you could do to find out more about them.
The first thing I would do would be to enter in your surch engine the words that are on the back of the plate. I suspect that they are the name of the maker of the plate and you may get some information that way.Another thing that you could try is go to your local libary(sp)and look thru books that deal with china or comemortive(sp) plates, also try showing the plate(s) to someone that deals in china or this type of plate, just make sure that you are clear that you are not looking to sell the plate at this point. It may be a long shot, but if you are near a university that offers courses in "fine arts' or something like that, you could take the plate to them and see if they could help you.

Nana you have a game plate, made in Bavaria, Germany. It is signed by the artist Baumann. It may be a pheasant. I don,t know this pattern. Prozallen means porcelain in Germany, and many porcelain firms were made in Shumann. Hunting plates, or gaming plates were very popular back in the days. I wish I could help you more. Good luck.
